Six Minutes of Fame With inFamous
Since its announcement at E3 in 2007, “Infamous” has been quietly building a lot of steam. With a proven developer at the helm (”Sly Cooper” creator, Sucker Punch) and it’s unique take on the sandbox genre, “Infamous” is looking more and more like an exclusive to be proud of. However, protagonist Cole MacGrath still has a lot of convincing to do to assure his adventure is a success on the PS3 and Sucker Punch has released six minutes from the “Infamous” demo to reassure gamers that this is going to be one “shocking” ride. I know a bit lame with the whole shocking thing, but I couldn’t resist. Anyways take a gander at the new footage below.
The story of “Infamous” begins with Cole delivering a package to a location somewhere in Empire City. The package suddenly explodes devastating the city and inciting riots and chaos amongst the town’s criminals. The government is forced to quarantine the city and is looking at Cole as the sole person responsible for all all the ensuing anarchy and devastation.
“Infamous” promises to allow players total control over there actions, and the ability to alter outcomes in the game world by performing moral or immoral deeds.
Early previews of the game have been comparing it to an amalgam of “Drake’s Uncharted,” “Prince of Persia,” and even “GTA” with super powers. Whatever the final product, it’s difficult to not be somewhat excited.
Overall I’ve seen little to suggest that Sucker Punch has a flop on their hands. “Infamous” is definitely looking more and more impressive each time I sneak a peek at Empire City’s open world. If you have a PS3 and are on the fence about this one, check out the footage below to help get an idea of what you may be getting yourself into come May 26th.
Oh, and on an unrelated note. If you haven’t seen Star Trek yet, do so now. I’m serious. Go right now! It’s that freaking good, and in my opinion, one of the top three Trek movies out there (next to Wrath of Khan and First Contact). Have a good weekend y’all.
