Kratos Gets A Hi-Def Makeover

God of War Collection

Are you having trouble finding things to do while waiting for Kratos’ next outing on the PS3? Well fear not Sony gamers, as it looks like Kratos will be making his way to the console much sooner then anticipated… just in the form of games you’ve already played.

Months ago, Playstation.com prepared a survey asking fans of the “God of War” franchise what special features they might like to see packed in with the “God of War 3.” Amongst said features were options for t-shirts, key chains, bonus disks, and other various choices, but by far the most entertaining prospect was a possible high-definition makeover for Kratos’ first two “God of War” adventures on the Playstation 2. Now, it looks like a Blu-ray version of the first two games will, indeed, make its way to the Playstation 3.

“We are excited today to announce the God of War Collection,” said Worldwide Studios America vice president Scott Rohde (via the U.S. PlayStation Blog).

“Our fans spoke and we listened; thanks to our partnership with Bluepoint Games, fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic God of War and God of War II saga in stunning 720p on PS3. This Blu-ray Disc compilation brings Kratos to PS3 even earlier than expected.”

While it is somewhat of a letdown that this incredible feature won’t be packaged in with “God of War 3″ (as the survey suggested months ago), at least we’ll be able to play as Kratos on the PS3 sooner then expected, and such an option should help quench gamers’ desires to play as the God of War in hi-def before next year.

Aside from playing as Kratos in HD, fans of the “God of War” franchise will also be able to look forward to trophy support for both titles. Keep an eye out for the “God of War” collection when it debuts this holiday season for only $39.99. What a steal, PS3 fans!

Till tomorrow, kids.
