I can hear the cries already from my fellow TGHz crew. My duties are soley based around the PS3 and I will venture into other consoles when a game catches my eye; especially WII titles. I hate to turn this site into a PS3 loving site but that’s not my fault :D. I’m relentless when things are this good. By now, you’re all guessing “… well that’s nice DW, but where’s the new stuff, I don’t want to see Devil May Cry 37 and besides Snake is a old fart that should have died long ago.”
I agree, e3 is not just about the new iterations of games of lore, or updated versions of software we love. It’s more than that. We want to see what’s new, even if its just an idea that looks bad. I never thought I’d live long enough to see Final Fantasy XIII so, I rounded as much of the new IPs I could find for all systems out there. Enjoy!
Infamous - ps3
Organic, sand-box gameplay is what he calls it. Check it out.

In the new trailer for Tools of Destruction, the demo shows off some impressive depth, draw distance, and the share mass and size of the stages that you will get to traverse in this new game for the PS3. Insomniac is proving that hard work indeed pays off when developers put their minds, hearts, and hatred for tough code behind them. To make something as gorgeous looking as this can’t be system based alone. The Groovatron will go down in history as being one of the coolest devices to grace the series. I got into this series late; this year late but so far the PS2 titles that I have played are not too bad. Nothing serious but just plane fun. With dingbads bobbing and whining their waist before you send them to a cog-hell, how can it be wrong?

As if $ony wont stop the Home plugging, they also had the following trailer to show off more usability with the PS3.

And here’s one more for the road.

EA needed to make the sequel to Black but that will have to wait for Gen 2 PS3 and Gen 3 360 I guess. Army looks to be an interesting game where co-op takes on a whole new meaning. It’s games like this, Drake, and a few others that make you see just how good GOW is. You can’t help but feel that they are biting but then again everyone else is.[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=17719" height="409" width="480" /]

Well, $ony proves that M$ is not the only guys that can do mass communication hubs. The thing is, the XBOX360 version, is not out, and MS is only touting Vista Live at the momemnt. Indeed, I will get GOW for VISTA since I have it but then again, the fee for online I will avoid since I have been play pc games for years without fees other than the cost of my bandwidth. Still this stuff on Home sounds like Sony is not throwing on another after thought on the PS3. Good luck, and good effort. Sony promises Phone, to Home, to PS3, to PC.Oh yeah, they made it possible to launch ANY game from home. Seriously, I laughed when they said they’d do this but there it is. Catch up wii, my Gamecube knows that I’m going to get you soon, and it hates me. All that’s left is [more] online [games] from Nintendo.

LoL, I couldn’t help myself with the title as you can only view this with the right age input. We always, always like more MGS footage. Thanks Konoami ^_^! Oh and if you didn’t know, if you own a PS3, all these trailers are available, or soon will be, on PSN in HD. OH AND VAMP IS BACK!! Love that guy!

Okay, I played GT3 till I had it 98% complete. The last f1 race is a real challenge, to this day [at least for me]. Anyways, I played 4 to, ignored it and declared the series dead but with the unset of 5, I have to admit that I am a “little” curious to see what the boys over at Polyphony have birthed - actually see for yourself -

Ahh Killzone, so much drama, so much of nothing about it for a while. Aside form the trailer that we saw two years ago, we have seen nothing, heard nothing, hinted nothing about it. It’s a different type of hype, compared to Halo. Unlike Halo, who has been all up in there like swim wear, this title has been defunct to absent, cancelled, dumped, rehashed, rumored, and Lord knows what else. Okay kiddies, let’s compare the trailers because that’s what we like to do right - its only fair to give Guerrilla a run for their money about keeping promises … then again, let’s not forget that the original trailer was a “target render”, so things will not always be as good, but sometimes turn out better.New Trailer:
[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=21490" height="409" width="480" /]
[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?umid=22500" height="409" width="480" /]
Well what can I say? They did it and its true that the game seems a little lower on the texture side but everything else from the previous target render is intact, and some. Mind you, if this thing plays at 1080p at that frame rate, then no one can complain. Now if this new trailer holds, then we will have a nice treat come this January, 2008 [Gamespot has the release date during this time]. The thing is, I’m a hog, so I’ll want to play and enjoy Halo 3 as well to see if it can redeem itself after Halo 2, so bring on the games already, it’s about time. Now the only thing we are missing is more gameplay footage and talk on multiplayer.

Peep the new trailer shown during Microsofts E3 press event. RE 4 was pure genius and now that Capcom has revitalized the franchise RE 5 can’t come soon enough. From the trailer, it looks like the next installment will take place in what looks like Africa. Not much is revealed in the trailer, but from what is shown, it’s looking pretty damn sweet! Capcom, don’t mess this one up!

Well, what an interesting week this was. Transformers got released and you either loved it or hated it. I can’t say the same about the game, but then again if you love massive robot destruction, what’s not to like? An interesting thing happened on the way to the bank, when Sony realized that the PS3 was being sold for $499 around select locations around the country. Honestly, after an extra controller, memory card converter, 3-4 games, that price cut is more like a slap in the face!
Whether this is Sony Official or just some store clerk hi-jinks is remained as to be seen. An interesting thing happened to Medal of Honor. Yea, I know you’re fed up of war games but I’m still going to talk about them so deal with it. Besides, after the recent trailers for Call of Duty 4, you can’t deny that that game looks tight! Tight enough to force the team over at Medal of Honor to delay their next iteration of WWII warfare. Rumor has it that they are actually not working on a perfect port for the PS3 but instead stuck in some type of DLL Hell scenario. Guys if you’re not bettering my gaming experience why bother? If its not gonna look like the trailers below then I’m not interested - my low attention span needs to be caressed by non-stop action.
If things were any more hellish for the PS3, it would be opportunistic of me to point out that the PS2 outsold the PS3 this week. Place WTF expression here. Yeah I know, the PS2 is a god among gaming consoles regardless of the camp that you adhere to. It wasn’t that much any ways, the PS2 sold about 16K units, and the PS3 sold about 11K. Look at it this way, at least they are being bought, regardless of price cuts being true or false. All bets aside, maybe that new Parkour game will lighten up things for a bit, as daddy PS2 continue to rake the doe long after his time has passed. If it plays anything like this I’m in.
There is a new Last Remnant trailer roaming the net as the private E3 event is about to be held soon. Expect more cool videos but what I would really like is for PSN network to start putting up more of the demo’s from E3. I think that would drive users into a crazy fit if Sony was able to pull that off. It’s not fair though, cuz Square Enix rescently announced that the FF will not see the light of my translation skills till next August. No silly, August 2008! Personally, the fact that Oracle started shipping Cardboard Laptops is more impressive.
Now you guys know I love busting the Church of Englands chops about that FOM incident. You know, the one where they bashed Sony for desecrating holy ground. Yes, I am a religious man if you’re wondering, but honestly when religion is used in vain or for self promotion I scuff at it. The church issued a holy digital commandment as follows -
- Respect our sacred spaces as places of prayer, worship, peace, learning and heritage.
- Do not assume that sacred space interiors are copyright free.
- Get permission from the faith leaders who are responsible for the building interiors you want to clone.
- Support the work of those engaged in resisting the culture of gun crime and those involved in promoting the work of conflict resolution.
That’s kind of interesting because the last clause kills the first two. Good enough I guess. It doesn’t matter, because these clauses are being drowned out by the fanatic yells of PSP owners as a release date for FF Tactics and its box art made its way onto the internet this week anyhow. However, the booing wont stop from the added cost to the PS3 controller’s new iteration that will include more touch sensitivity. My girlfriends hate me already. Especially when I will stay up late, some time in the near future to play that new Turok game. Yea I know, Turok has had one game [this is true because the others don't matter though we learn from them]. The new and improved beast looks interesting at least.
Hey Josh, you guys need to release that game now, because it looks sweet. Hopefully this one will be done right. An interesting fact about this title is that it’s actually being developed for XBOX, XBOX360, PS2, and PS3! These guys are giving Starbreeze, the creators of Chronicles of Riddick: EFBB and The Darkness, a run for their money after that comment about developing for multiple next gen consoles. Check out the trailer above for an in-depth look at this title and see you next week.

TrueGameHeadz decided to visit my old campus’s stomping ground to ask the girls around dowtown why don’t they like video game players as boyfriends and such. An interesting approach but a reminder to all my game brothers out there that there are indeed girls who are in to gaming / gamers. Yes, they are a rare catch but a word to the wise, hang on to her if you ever meet her.
No, not iBlog, sBlog; as in Sony has officially launched its own blog site this week. Sony has promised to keep us up to date with all necessary info for those information starving PS3 owners. I have to admit, that should have been created from day one guys. Maybe the fact that BestBuy decided to start offering a $20 discount on some PS3 titles this week was better news but that type of information was no where to be found in any of their blogs. It would be nice if they made a world portal instead, but then again my ideas are always too grande.
Piyotama, cousin of PuyoPuyo was released on the PS Network in Japanthis week.I am jealous. Who’s to say that the EU PS Network gets no love, as I was able to spot some listings for old PS1 titles that the boys over the pond would never get as we had thought. That includes titles like Crash Bandicoot, Medievil, and Jumping Flash just to name a few. The Queen is dead indeed. The HAZE HD Trailer was released this week in full force and it looks tight. How did I see it you say? I’m not telling! What didn’t f’ing come out was the “BIG update” that was supposed to have been released this week.
Guess what? The Motorstorm God Update got delayed again!! Are you F’ing kiding me guys! The Lair game is still not out, and buggy as it may be, the creators at Factor Five have a lot to live up to so it would be nice if they took their time. However, if you were insane enough to buy that horrible version of Fith Element BR DVD, I want you to feel immediately upset that the true remastered version of Fifth Element was released this week. Yes, on BR, and if you didn’t know, they won the HD warz. Didn’t you notice all the commercials yet? The firmware for PS3 was updated once again. I think it’s Sony’s idea of a joke. I need a shot of Kass Rum right now. What does it fix? Some RGB Feature that only certain TV’s experience. Well the good thing about it is that it shows Big S is willing to take even the small guys into consideration considering the size of this niche problem. It is now possible to get certain video feeds sent directly to your psp. That’s nice, other than the 60 reasons given to own a PSP these days. You can now get that Xyanide demo for the PSP as well. It looks sweet by the way. I’m also surprised that people were bitching about how hard Wipeout Pure was [*cough*], but then again I’m a fan of the series so it comes naturally to me. Lead designer Colin Berry says that they will aim for something more balanced in Wipeout Pulse.ÂÂ Colin points out that the difficulty of the AI can be lowered at Phantom class speeds and up so new players will have a better time adjusting.
Doak and Furture of Sega
David Doak of Free Radical went to point out that PS3 developers are nothing but a bunch of pansies. Strong words David. You’re officially part of the Ninja Gaiden Itagaki Fan Club. However, I pointed out this week that Ninja Gaiden Sigma has completely shut me up. After going through the demo upteen times [ I still cant' finish it on very hard!! ], I have to admit that the game is impressive, especially when compared to the first two versions. Not only that, members of the original Itagaki fan club pointed out that when the game is finally released, it will show just how powerful the PS3 can really be. My thoughts are whether or not they were able to push the system to its limits already. Just remember this is coming from a guy who loves cabbage. Sega is no more. Sega is now SegaSammy. You heard that right! The VPs over at the new firm echoed out a sentence I mention to my breathren here on TGHz: “The PS3 will win the console war.” Like all the other boxes pushed out by Sony, the directors point out that the system has the same type of potential as its predecessors times ten. Like what you ask? Hell if I know, they rejected my request for the Dev Kit so I can’t say for now. This is the same difficulty and frustration that I’m sure many a Sony developer bitches about. Case and point: PS2 was announced dead in 2006 December, Janurary - April of 2007 has seen some of its most amazing releases. The problem with all this is that gamers just don’t want to wait so even I to am waiting for the right moment to pick up a XBOX 360. Well at least the PS3 has been slated to have a new controller with rumble, but developers of the unit are saying that battery life of the wireless controller will be an issue. My co-worker got this interesting error while coding this week on MS Software : ” … this error is by design.”

Kick me in the face, someone with ballz has finally decided to make an online brawler. I bitched about the existence of “no online” fighters and those that exist suck major donkey balls and you know it. So, w00t to Bandai/Namco for announcing that Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection HD will receive an update that will allow for online bouts. And you frame rate loving virtual fighters should know that playing brawlers is not about no f’ing frame rates, it’s about kicking the ass out of your opponent, with or without style! What to expect from this update, if you haven’t downloaded the game already is as follows:
- VS Mode Online
- Leader boards
- Online trash talking for an online brawler [i can't wait!] ^_^
- Survival Mode Online
- Ranking Mode Online
All that for 7.99 to kick your friends ass across the globe. Finally!

After my last update on Team Ninja, and after checking out the demo for the game, playing it through hard and very hard, I have to admit, I was impressed. I never thought that I would eat my words, but yea, the demo shut me up. What’s worse is that Yosuke Hayashi promises that the demo was a walk in the park, and the final outing will be a testament to the power of the PS3. Interesting when the original creator has been rumored to be motivated by cabbage. Still, I’m happy with the idea of fighting Alma, Doku, and Marbus all the same time!!
This game will not be for the faint of heart and I’m sure you may go through it on normal or easy, but that’ll only make you a lesser ninja chomp . Your bragging rights will be worth half a pound of green Brassica oleracea. All jokes aside, what was thought to be almost impossible on the PS3, has been done: 1080p running at full 60fps with full anti aliasing and all that other fancy talk that make fanboys hearts go pita pata. You? I’m looking forward to that sucka big time and you know what, Itagaki can talk all he wants, be a push over, flirt with girls, and eat all the f’ing cabbage he wants, cuz the pudding smells good, so put it on my plate already. Loose sleep on 6/26/2007 when this game is released.

Ahh David Doak, one of the founding fathers of Rare, and that ever comparable FPS Goldeneye. Any descent gamer knows, that the only FPS that ever mattered over the last 10 years was Goldeneye. Yea, I said that. Lately, I’ve been a little annoyed with all aspects of the gaming industry, from publishing pushing out false ads, and delivering even more false games, to manufacturers making batteries that explode and can turn your portable devices into a bomb. Well, maybe not but you get what I mean. David Doak understands what I mean when he says things like this -
It’s funny, because the videogame industry almost damns itself by just going out and saying, ‘hey, we’re all generic and boring and we just do the same shooters all over again, and let’s make another one,’ which is a shame. And then people look at us and say, ‘you know, you guys, you’ve got nothing useful to say about the world, because you’re just there beating off in your little box making the same kind of thing’. I’d like to push it. I think with TimeSplitters we were also trying to push it, because we’re saying, ‘these shooting games - let’s not take them too seriously, because it’s good fun’. And some people get that and some people don’t get that. It’s most disappointing, when sometimes in the States people get TimeSplitters and say, ‘well why’s it so stupid?’ Well, it’s just trying to be fun.
Which brings up an important topic for me; fun with videogames. I think, in all the promotions and all the hub, bub, weave, parry, ho, gamers and producer-developer-manufacturer-creator-IP-Owners-designers are loosing the point. Sometimes Earth Defense Force is just more fun anything on the planet, heck, even Goldeneye. Did you forget why you would travel 18 train stops into the next county to go some guy, who you know only 10 other guys knew about, and was the only one that carried a certain title even if it was sold out? You did didn’t you? Or more precisely, you can’t see yourself as that person anymore, you even think that you’re a sell out to corporate gaming. Lies.
Every gamer knows that if a title doesn’t speak to you when you play it, or test it, none of the above applies. It doesn’t matter what level of detail, or how innovative the thing is, the point is, will a gamer get it, and enjoy it while their getting it. So yes Mr. Doak, hiring army vets to do games is a little strange but it doesn’t mean that the titles are going to be any less fun either. I have to admit though, Haze looks beautiful, and its much needed exclusivity [for now] on PS3 is a wonderful thing. One of the features that may spur the above moments includes the whole lets-join-in-four-man-team, anytime, anywhere. I like that. I even like the fact that Mr. Doak and his team are trying to release this thing all platforms - that’s a leap forward in itself. When you hear the guys over at The Darkness saying that it was ridiculous creating that game for both XBOX360 and PS3, you have to wonder what plant did guys like David Doak grow from?

Damn them All to Hell
Sony has some serious explaining to do about making a game machine that can push “photo realistic” images of cathedrals and what not damn it. As if things couldn’t get any more worse over at ye creator of George Forman Grill with Spidey Text. They now have to deal with the fact that there poster child, Insomiac Games, creators of Resistance, have defiled the very existence of the Church of England. That’s a big ass lie and we know it.
Not only are the priests in an uproar but in a back sided compliment, the PS3 has been chimed by the church for too closely replicating the famous house of worship and defiling its representation around the world with guns, demons, and destructions. Hey, I like my post apocalyptic cathedrals in full detail thank you very much! Besides, game companies have been doing that for years, I think I hear the cash cow Father.
In better news, something huge is about to hit the PS Network on Monday. No one knows what it is … but people have several guesses. That includes an early release of Home, more f’ing download-able games, or perhaps an actual playable demo of Killzone 2. Personally, I think the game has gotten too much hype and I wish the team over at Killzone 2 all the luck in delivering a tech demo shown from two years ago. We know its not possible by now, so give it a rest! Besides every year you take longer, our expectations will get so high, that no matter what you release, when you release it, we’ll just laugh at it like those demons from the Viva Pinata game. I don’t mind being wrong though. My guess is that they’ll finally release that Resistance update, which was delayed again this week, with even more hell hounds and Chimera traversing around and in the Church of England.
Sony was nominated for delivering best new Intellectual Property and an award for Publishing Hero. Apparently you want Big S to publish your games, they are good at it. I guess Sony passing the 1 Million units sold in EU this week may be to blame. Hey, its not a WII game, but even Supa-Rub-Dub got nominated for innovation. Who the F is giving out these things anyways? I’m guessing if they had built rumble into the controller in the first place, all those silly fanboys would have felt so much more at home regardless of bad hype. When you’re spoiled your spoiled rotten fanboy.
Well, Killzone will not be released till 2009. Just kidding, but honestly at the rate things are going, what other date sounds plausible to you anyways? Assassins Creed got moved to November but the Eye Toy is looking to make its debut sooner than you can say “Get me a box of cracker jacks Mum”. MGS Magnum Opus Special Edition with Yellow Tan Foily Wrap may be released says Kojima.
Okay, what about the regular one? Lair, which I thought was released already is due … soon. I’m not giving a date, because you know, its just gonna come out when they get that damn loading issue sorted out. Vegas will be upon PS3 soon, and I will finally get to enjoy this awesome XBOX360 title. From what DaGamers have said here, it was worth it, and they have lost many a night playing online with it. Here’s hoping for a descent version of a great game. Personally, Ninja Gaiden Sigma needs to be out already. I finally beat the demo on hard, and couldn’t make it past the first section on very hard. I’m wondering if they’ll add impossible to the difficulty? I’m always up for a challenge!
Of all the news this week, what really caught my eye was that Soul Calibur 4 will be premiered in the next issue of EGM. I am really looking forward to see what they can do with that game. I’m dying for an online brawler and I know “frame” whatever causes problems but honestly in the world of Namco brawlers, your punch, kicks, and slashes go through rocks, and your opponents appendages all the time. Wanna see a grown man b&[email protected]%? Go to Chinatown Fair in NY, NY, if you don’t believe me and learn that you are not ready for brawlers yet. You will have to excuse me but please release a descent game Bandai Namco! And you know what, if Puss In Boots is in the game, I’ll STILL BUY IT!
