Bioware on DS bandwagon…

Well it looks like the folks over at Bioware are feeln’ the little old DS. They announced support for the handheld system as well as their entry into the handheld market. Good things can only come from these kats now that they are on the playing field. If you aren’t familiar with the studio, they dropped Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic(which happend to be hella better than the prequel movies).

“Details about the new game are scarce at best, but BioWare president Greg Zeschuk said, “… We are committed to creating the best story-driven games in the world, and the Nintendo DS offers us an exciting new platform to engage.”

Project director Dan Tudge, former president of Exile Interactive, will lead the group. Exile co-developed games such as Sega’s World Series Baseball 2K2 and 2K3, and Toxic Grind. He’s also worked in a supervisory capacity over the development of games for THQ, Nintendo and Microsoft.

In addition, BioWare said that it is hiring for the handheld project. “The new project offers tremendous opportunities, and we’re looking for talented and passionate developers to become part of that,” said Zeschuk. Details can be found at the official company site.

BioWare is currently working on the highly anticipated RPG Mass Effect for Xbox 360, as well as an unnamed MMO game that is under development at BioWare’s recently founded Austin, Texas studio.”
