You knew it was coming….another tomb raider game

Filed under: PC Gaming, PS3, Nintendo DS, PSP, Xbox 360, Games — UnitDaGamer @ 12:18 am , Permalink

Eidos is gonna hit us next year with another game in the tomb raider series. With the new trend of “re-imagining” things, this new adventure is gonna be a retelling of her first adventure from back on the ps1. Chec the statement from Ian Livingstone, director at Eidos.
“We’ve captured the essence of what made the original game so special and with today’s technology, created a game that pushes the boundaries of the current gaming consoles,”
“Tomb Raider: Anniversary is a special celebration of Lara’s reign as video gaming’s leading lady.”

When you can’t go no further you always go back.

New street fighter movie…wtf!

Filed under: Games — UnitDaGamer @ 11:27 pm , Permalink

Capcom…why the hell are you doing another live action street fighter movie? Was the last one not torture enuff for us? It appears that the fine folks at capcom and Hyde park ent. see fit that another street fighter movie needs to made. The news comes from Variety.com, chec it below:

Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment and Capcom Ltd. are getting in the ring for a film version of popular vidgame franchise “Street Fighter.”

Scribe Justin Marks has been tapped to adapt.

Hyde Park and Capcom — Japanese publisher of “Street Fighter” — will produce the film in a joint venture.

Pic will focus on the game’s most popular female fighter, Chun Li, but the exact storyline is being kept under wraps.

In 1994, Universal released a “Street Fighter” movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme that featured most of the characters from the game.

Hyde Park and Capcom’s film is targeted to bow in 2008, the 20th anniversary of the game franchise.

The Street Fighter series helped ignite the arena fighting genre that’s still popular in the vidgame world.

When it first debuted, it generated heated controversy over the graphic depictions of violence.

Though it has been less popular in recent years as the number of competitors has increased, “Street Fighter” games have sold over 25 million console games and 500,000 arcade units, generating more than a billion dollars in revenue.

Marks just completed writing “Voltron” for producer Mark Gordon.

He is repped by William Morris Agency.

Hyde Park will be selling the project at the American Film Market, which unspools this week in Santa Monica.

The only street fighter movie was the classic japanese animated version(NOT THE ENGLISH DUBBED ONE!!). That will be the only street fighter flix you need to watch. Capcom if your listening stop this while you can, we don’t need another reminder as to why videogame based movies suck ass!

But check out the site yourself.

The company behind is the same guys behind a free game I pimped earlier this week, Gunster

New resistance:fall of man pics

Got some new pics of Resistance fall of man for the ps3. For those that don’t know, this is insomniac’s(ratchet & clank series) first fps and ps3 game. In it you play a soldier during ww2 but this isn’t the war that we all know. At first glance this game looks like another ww2 themed shooter Instead this takes place in an alternate reality, were your fighting alien like creatures instead of german soldiers. As nice graphically this game looks ,do we honestly need another ww2 themed shooter ?(even if they have aliens in them). The genre is over saturated at the moment , there’s so many call of duties and medal of honors out there you can actually write a book about ever single mission there ever was during ww2!! People could think your a historian or something on ww2. I know sony is banking on this to be a big seller and there’s no doubt it will, every one who’s gettin/got a ps3 is gonna get this game.

A playable demo of SimBin’s upcoming WTCC racing simulation is now available for download

“Featured cars in this PC demo are the Seat León and the BMW 320i, representing the versatility of the WTCC Championship. At the legendary circuit of Brands Hatch, UK, players can experience a taste of what’s to come. Chase your ghost in the Time Attack mode, push yourself to the limit and break your own record.”

A video to show what’s up with RACE including comments from professional drivers of the series.

While we are talking about Racing Sims, here is a video of their previous game released not too long ago called GTR2. Based on the famous FIA league, this game has around 144 cars from Porches to Ferraris, all tuned up for big league races and several hours of laps. I own this game, and I really suggest it anyone who is into realistic racing to get it.  The game can be bought for 30 bucks and it comes with another game, GT Legends, for free.

Xbox 360 has been a success so far! 6 Million Sold!

Closing in on being 1 year old, the XBOX360 is deemed a success. It has passed 6 million consoles Sold. NOT SHIPPED as some numbers often refer to. What does this mean? They have a sizeable lead in the market. Not an insurmountable lead because of Nintendo’s relatively inexpensive system, but an important one. That is 6 million sold without the help of a true system seller. I’m excited to see what Gears of War will do for that number. We all know what the mighty Halo will bring next year.

Good news for the industry? I think the success of Microsoft is pleasing in lieu of the bashing they got when they announced they were entering the industry. They have a good user base and developers are showing support. Now your playing with Power! LOL HAHAHA

Lik-sang no more….

Filed under: Games — UnitDaGamer @ 12:17 am , Permalink

One of the most infamous spots for importing games Lik-sang has closed up shop. It’s not cuz they were doing bad business wise but because of several legal actions sony has hit them with. Peep the letter from Lik-sang’s site:

Hong Kong, October 24th of 2006 - Lik-Sang.com, the popular gaming retailer from Hong Kong, has today announced that it is forced to close down due to multiple legal actions brought against it by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Limited and Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Sony claimed that Lik-Sang infringed its trade marks, copyright and registered design rights by selling Sony PSP consoles from Asia to European customers, and have recently obtained a judgment in the High Court of London (England) rendering Lik-Sang’s sales of PSP consoles unlawful.

As of today, Lik-Sang.com will not be in the position to accept any new orders and will cancel and refund all existing orders that have already been placed. Furthermore, Lik-Sang is working closely with banks and PayPal to refund any store credits held by the company, and the customer support department is taking care of any open transactions such as pending RMAs or repairs and shipping related matters. The staff of Lik-Sang will make sure that nobody will get hurt in the crossfire of this ordeal.

A Sony spokesperson declined to comment directly on the lawsuit against Lik-Sang, but recently went on to tell Gamesindustry.biz that “ultimately, we’re trying to protect consumers from being sold hardware that does not conform to strict EU or UK consumer safety standards, due to voltage supply differences et cetera; is not - in PS3’s case - backwards compatible with either PS1 or PS2 software; will not play European Blu-Ray movies or DVDs; and will not be covered by warranty”.

Lik Sang strongly disagrees with Sony’s opinion that their customers need this kind of protection and pointed out that PSP consoles shipped from Lik-Sang contained genuine Sony 100V-240V AC Adapters that carry CE and other safety marks and are compatible world wide. All PSP consoles were in conformity with all EU and UK consumer safety regulations.

Furthermore, Sony have failed to disclose to the London High Court that not only the world wide gaming community in more than 100 countries relied on Lik-Sang for their gaming needs, but also Sony Europe’s very own top directors repeatedly got their Sony PSP hard or software imports in nicely packed Lik-Sang parcels with free Lik-Sang Mugs or Lik-Sang Badge Holders, starting just two days after Japan’s official release, as early as 14th of December 2004 (more than nine months earlier than the legal action). The list of PSP related Sony Europe orders reads like the who’s who of the videogames industry, and includes Ray Maguire (Managing Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Ltd), Alan Duncan (UK Marketing Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Ltd), Chris Sorrell (Creative Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Ltd), Rob Parkin (Development Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Limited), just to name a few.

“Today is Sony Europe victory about PSP, tomorrow is Sony Europe’s ongoing pressure about PlayStation 3. With this precedent set, next week could already be the stage for complaints from Sony America about the same thing, or from other console manufacturers about other consoles to other regions, or even from any publisher about any specific software title to any country they don’t see fit. It’s the beginning of the end… of the World as we know it”, stated Pascal Clarysse, formerly known as the Marketing Manager of Lik-Sang.com.

“Blame it on Sony. That’s the latest dark spot in their shameful track record as gaming industry leader. The Empire finally ‘won’, few dominating retailers from the UK probably will rejoice the news, but everybody else in the gaming world lost something today.”

This is def’ a blow to the gaming community , and one wonders if they’ll go after other import sites soon after. i don’t understand why has this forced them to close up shop? They werent importing just sony products and it seems other companies had no problems as to what they did. After all they were still selling the companies product! Online shops are like roaches, you can keep killin them, and they always come back!
