Sony has released official pics of their upcoming psp camera called “Chotto Shot” and gps add ons. These add-ons are gonna be droppen in the land of the rising sun on nov.7th for the camera at about $43 u.s. and dec.7th for the gps at about $51 u.s. When are they headin over here, only sony knows that and there not sayin’ a word. Now as far as the specs go chec below:
Camera:1.3 megapixels,480×272 or 640×480 resolution, it’ll be capable of capturing animaton in 480×272 @ 30fps for 15 secs. It’ll also come with a built in photo editing software and the pics can be saved to a memory stick for transfer to a pc
Gps:The gps will have a refresh rate of 1 sec. and have measurment precision of 5m.
There is said to be a number of titles that will support the gps add-on such as MGS:portable ops, Minna no Golf portable 2 to name a few. Now what they’ll actually do for the game i have no clue. And the camera also brings to mind the question of how many people out there are gonna actually buy and use it? I have this funny image in my head of someone fumbling while pulling out their psp with the camera attachment to take a pic of a celeb or something while right next to them someone just pulls out and uses their camera phone. What are some of your opinions on this? Sound off in the forums ya heard!
Another well known company Tecmo has jumped on the online bandwagon. It appears they’ll be starting up an online division called “LieVo” which will include several online enabled games. You can check the link below for the presentation, although in japanese you can still look at the pretty cg of the upcoming games. Now whether this will hit us in the states that’s still up in the air but hopefully and if their smart enuff they’ll bring over here. Hmmm I wonder if they’ll have an online doa volleyball bikini competition……….
Tecmo has announced support for the Wii, which is a great thing. We can expect One Superb Title (that seems to be the number produced each gen from the publisher) from the ever present Itagi.
Dead or Alive?
Will it be a completely new franchise? (Doubtful) But we are assured of it’s quality.
A new golden axe vid appears to have surfaced (you can check it out below). Because of the quality i can’t tell if its cg or actual in game graphics, but how hot it would be if they were.I don’t know how you guys feel but im actually looking forward for this joint .I have very fond memories of wasting quarters away on this game, riding giant lizards, hacking away and unleashing hell on every thing on screen. Hey sega , do it up!!!
It seems these ww2 fps games just won’t go away! Check out these pics of brothers in arms d-day for the psp. So far it’s lookin decent on the hand held, my only question and im sure everyone elses is how tight are the controls. Please.. please don’t give us no “coded arms” ass backwards controls!
For all 8 of you out there that still play your Xbox games and want to play them on your Xbox360 (What happened to your Xbox? lol) Check it out, MS is still updating the patch list on Xbox live. There are totally games on here I would still play (Not!)
But if you want to check out the complete list, check out the link!
I have to gather my thoughts before I go into this PSP rant. Before you flaming flamers get on me saying that i’m biased or any of that jazz. I must state that I am a lover of all games and systems (I own all of them).
But the overbearing love for the Nintendo DS (Handhelds in general) always seems to point to a failure on the PSP. Now i think that this is unfair. Why? Because the PSP didn’t fail. It just didn’t match tit for tat with the Nintendo upgrade to their Gameboy platform. Which was thoroughly expected. What did Sony do? They had to come hard with a far superior system in terms of functionality, graphics, and performance to even enter the market.
It’s exactly the same strategy that Microsoft deployed when they launched the original Xbox. They couldn’t just put in a system with “comparable” specs to a PS2, they had to throw in a lot of “Extras” that in some stages were considered fluff. This also drove up the price point. People scoffed when they “INCLUDED” a Hard Drive and Broadband only gaming, but can you imagine this next-generation without it? They proved it was feasible.
Back to PSP, Sony knew that they couldn’t release just any old handheld. They decided to add in “Extras” such as MP3 player, Video Player, Web Browsing, Photo Viewer etc. Most of these were cosidered “Fluff” but they were building blocks for the first generation handheld. They did things first. Co-op play over the internet? Movies on a handheld? Surfing the Web?
As you PSP owner’s know, the most frustrating thing with “Surfing” the web on the PSP is the “No Memory” error message that you get when you load pages. This could not be fixed because the internal memory just wasn’t enough. It is more than plenty for playing handheld games, but not for storing the images et al of a webpage.
NOW the payoff, rumors have it that Sony is readying their next iteration of the PSP. Not only that, they are going the iPod route in not giving it a numbering convention. (How silly would PSP2 sound?) I think this is a great idea. For one it sets consumers up to know that they will be releasing newer versions of the console in a timely manner. Also, it further shows the commitment of Sony to make a better product. They’ve hopefully learned from their first go-around and will be able to deliver in the next iteration. Will they topple Gameboy/Ds? Doubtful, but they can eat a bigger chunk of market share next time.
Check out this video to see a detailed view of what the final PS3 unit wil look like! And if this video is anything to go by, we’ll need to rock gloves like the ones dude is wearing in the clip. See for yourself!
You guys need to peep this animated short “Pirate Baby’s Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006″ from master animator Paul Robertson! This short has to be the illest tribute to brawlers from back in the day. Props to Paul for droppn’ this gem on us. And swing through to his site to check him out!
Sony recently demoed the ps3 user interface for watching blu ray movies in japan, check the pic below.Talk about a hi tech interface! It looks like their keeping it simple just like the good ‘ol ps2…..um sony if im gonna drop $600 for this system i want every thing to look tight no matter what it is! Now give me a better interface!
Activision, Inc. announced today that award-winning composers Chance Thomas(”Peter Jackson’s King Kong,” “Lord of the Rings” series), Cris Velasco (”God of War”) and Mark Griskey (”Best of LucasArts Original Soundtrack”) have scored the upcoming, critically-acclaimed Marvel: Ultimate Alliance video game. The trio has produced over 50 minutes of original music for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, including arrangements for multiple game levels, the in-game cinematics and the Super Hero™ and boss battle themes. http://superherohype.com/news.php?id=4687
With these guys composing, it sounds like we’ll get some sick ass audio complimenting the insane chaos that’ll be on screen! Another notch for Marvel!!
