I have a strong feeling that the more events like the Virgina Tech shootings go down, people like Jack Thompson will only get stronger in their fight against videogames. At this point it is hard to rule out if videogames aid in massacres caused by young people, but after the shooting suspects homes have been raided, they are found to be playing games that reflect the nature of the killings. I don’t know what the solution can be to prevent situations like this, but it’s getting pretty serious with violent games and their connections to people who commit killing sprees. I think the videogame industry needs to step up now because I have a feeling political figures will start to side with Thompson and come down very hard on the industry more than they ever have.
Well the snowball effect is starting to happen. World famous television star Dr. Phil also blames videogames for the recent shootings at Virgina Tech! Read below:
“The problem is we are programming these people as a society. You cannot tell me - common sense tells you - that if these people are playing video games where they’re on a mass killing spree in a video game, it’s glamorized on the big screen, it’s become part of the fiber of our society. You take that and mix it with a psychopath, a sociopath, or someone suffering from mental illness, add in a dose of rage, the suggestability is just too high. And we’re going to have to start dealing with that. We’re going to have to start addressing those issues and recognizing that the mass murderers of tomorrow are the children of today that are being programmed with this massive violence overdose.”
Yes folks, Akira toriyama is back with a brand new anime and it’s not dragonball z! The popular japanese rpg Blue Dragon for the xbox 360 has recieved the animation treatment and it’s looking good. This anime will be based directly off the game of the same name which follows the adventures of a young hero named Shu and his ragtag group of heroes on a quest to stop an evil empire from controlling the land. The english version of the game will be hitting our shores soon and as for the anime, only time will tell. For now peep the trailer and enjoy!
Kingdom Hearts Final Mix is available now in Japan. And for those who don’t know, Final Mix is basically a Japaneses directors cut of the first kingdom hearts game. It includes new cut scenes that flesh out the story better as well as some new enemies and weapons. Included in the game is an extended teaser for Kingdom Hearts 3. The original teaser was shown at at the end of Kingdom Hearts 2 and hinted at things to come(key blade war for example). One word can be said about this new extended version…..HOT!!!!. In it we now see what appears to be a new villain along with his ill henchmen. Also revealed are the faces behind those tight ass looking armor suits. I’m not sure who they all are, but one of them looks like Roxas(a little older now). I don’t know about ya’ll kats, but the teaser does a hell of a job of getting me amped for the next joint! DAMN I can’t wait!
You gotta give up those guys at square-enix. They’ve truly masterd the art of cg cienamatics in video games. What i love about their cg is the attention to detail and animation that brings their videos to a certain level of hotness that is often hard to match from any other cg production company out there. And whats crazy, it’s all done in house as opposed to outsourcing it to other cg production studios. Check the intro from Final fantasy X and see the hotness that these guys can produce (besides making the whole game too!).
Old Tecmo hopes this round more heads will be up on Ninja Gaiden this time. In this new footage that hit the net, there looks to be a new class of enemy soldiers added to the game. This time these dudes are riding motorcycles! I don’t know about you guys, but they look annoying as hell! Either the way, the game looks good in all it’s cell proccesor glory, but I just hope they beefed up the story along with the graphics. As with the introduction of the original Xbox version, they seemed to had forgotten that Ninja Gaiden introduced story telling with cut scenes in a video game back in the day! Check it out.
From Russia with love!!!! It looks like the old iron curtain is about to challenge hollywood for the title of everything and the kitchen sink when it comes to action and special effects! From Fox’s Searchlight films comes the Russian flic, Day Watch. You really and truely have to check out the trailer for yourself! And when you do, you’ll have to agree with me when I say the last few seconds of the trailer is officially the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in a feature film! If video games are tryn’ to be more like movies, they need to take note startn’ now!!!!
I came across this on IGN”s website. It’s a cool little interview with writer J. Stewart Burns who writes for the Simpsons. Peep the video to see what he is a fan of!! And Sony, I hope your watching cause he called you out!!!!
