Exclusive video…Silver Surfer kicks offical ass!

I wasn’t a huge fan of the first flick, but will admit it was an okay comic book adaption. But I have to say this second film looks to be pretty damn tight! As cheesy as the Silver Surfer may seem to some people, i think after watching this movie they will have a sudden change of heart. In the exclusive clip(thanks to IGN), the Surfer flexes his skills and pretty much proves he’s not just some silver dude riding a surf board. So yeah, watch the clip and I think you’ll agree when I say im pretty much amped for this flick. FLAME ON!!!!

ONIMUSHA MOVIE EMINENT!

gans

Talk about the sweetest news to come this way of video game movies! Christopher Gans is considering doing Onimusha as a full blown flick! Now, I know that you guys know that I just love silent hill but then again I always felt that directors could put out more stuff. Onimusha’s story, as you all know expands four titles, and is a long torrid affair involving forbidden love, demonic take overs, power hungry warlords, and time travel. Its safe to say that no one will get what they want if this title makes it to the big screen as there are just too many things pluck from. F-DAT! Do it all I say! Even if this flick turns out cheezy, I would watch it simple because it includes time travel [que the Deja Vu music].

takeshi

Gans has pointed out that yes, Takeshi Kaneshiro will play lead when the $70 MILLION DOLLAR budgeted flick begins to see the light of day and wind spelled spears. Gans, if you didn’t know is responsible for Silent Hill, Pacts De Loups [aka Brother of Wolfz], and the Crying Freeman anime to movie adaption. An impeccable record, though most of these movies didn’t bring him critical acclaim till Silent Hill. Speaking of which, Silent Hill 2 has been announced as well for 2008 so things are shaping up for this director. Lets hope he doesn’t take the path of one Bule guy [did I spell that right, my bad]. The fact that Takeshi is adored by Asians all over and Gans coupe de grace with Silent Hill and winning over many a fanboy and screen lovers with Silent Hill shines an dynamite duo. If you saw Lovers, most likely you saw it with your girlfriend, and she didn’t go because she wanted to spend quality time with you. Here’s looking forward to this beast of an undertaking. I’ve seen several of Takeshi’s films, though more the dramatic side and may not appeal to my action loving brothers, he as an acting style that was amazing translated into the game. If you ever get a chance take a look at Seung sing or The Returner.

Sylvester Stallone: Complete Mad Man or Genius?

Filed under: Movies — PsychoBob @ 1:07 am , Permalink

Let me first come out and say I’m a HUGE Stallone fan. Grew up on the Rocky flicks, and was allowed to watch Rambo movies as a young buck despite my under 17 age status (Thanks mom & dad. I was anywhere between 7-12 yrs. of age) But I must say, the end of 2006 had Sly climbing back to the top on “Rocky Balboa” the sixth and final chapter of our favorite underdog. And now, Sly has every internet “geek” shocked and applauding for the forth and perhaps final installment of Rambo simply entitled “John Rambo”. Last week Sly gave “Ain’t it Cool News” a 3:29 clip he put together on this next flick, (which he’s also directing) and all I can say is 1) Make sure you have a strong stomach. 2) Keep away from children. (Who am I to say; had my kid brother watch it and he’s 13) and 3) Not for the faint of heart. The violence sure beats out the other Rambo flicks you might remember. Why, the violence and gore makes up for the first 3 alone! Is it too much? or can the “masses” stomach the gore? Honestly, we have seen far more gorier on film since Rambo 3. Movies such as Unforgiven, Pulp Fiction, Saving Private Ryan, and Sin City, are to name a few. Has Stallone doped up on one too many viles of HGH (Human Growth Hormone) that it has impaired his thinking? (Dude got busted back in February in Australia while he was out there to promote Rocky Balboa. Probably Paul “Crocodile Dundee” Hogan tipped off Australian Officials) Anyhow you take it, people forget that Stallone isn’t just a mindless muscle bound actor. He’s really quite articulate, with an expanded vocabulary! The man has written movies, screenplays, done research on fight choreography, and directed quite a few films. And that’s not easy; especially when you’re responsible for cast and crews alike along with acting. He has film credit and doesn’t get his props. In fact; the way 2007 or ‘08 will probably have Sly looking better than his other previous “Planet Hollywood” investors (Bruce Willis & Arnold Schwarzenegger) These 2 actors never covered as much depth as Sly did. “Arnold” killed his career from a series of bad movies in the 90’s along with “T3″. Now he’s Governor of California and it would take a miracle for him to get back on track in “La La Land”. Bruce, on the other hand has been fairly successful within the late 90’s and into this decade. The question is now “What has happened to the latest Die Hard feature” and it’s rating? PG-13! Are you kidding? A concern like this and we haven’t seen the flick. Willis could’ve used Sly for his creative expertise on this one as well.

All we can do is wait and find out. John Rambo doesn’t come out until either the end of this year or until next summer.

Warning: Heavy Violence & Gore!

Hollywood’s “May”hem

Filed under: Movies — PsychoBob @ 11:16 pm , Permalink

Okay movie buffs, so looking back this month, Hollywood could probably see itself make almost a billion dollars, thanks to flicks like Spiderman 3, Shrek 3 and the third installment of Pirates of the Caribbean “At World’s End”. But was it really worth it? Spiderman 3 wasted my time and money for starters. Plot was weak, and it’s pretty much going the route the 1980’s-1990’s Batman flicks did of killing off the villains. Critics gave it anywhere from 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 stars. Why? And all those other critics who awarded it 3 stars are completely mindless! They either don’t follow comics or they’re probably been paid off to give it a good review. In the future, head over to your neighborhood comic book store and ask those people there for a “real” review. They’ll give you an honest answer. I could go on, and on with that flick, but lets just say I left the theater mad as hell! And to top it off, the game also released at the same time and gets rated worst game of the year! Shrek 3, well I actually liked it for the concept it played with the other fairy tale characters such as Cinderella, Snow White, etc. (It’s like a “Where Are They Now” setting. Kinda cool) Plus, I needed to make up for Spidey 3. But yet, for some strange reason, the critics weren’t really moved. (2 1/2 stars) Pretty much saying that this flick ran it’s course. Same was said of the last Pirates feature. I could admit it dragged a little; (maybe I’ll lay off the “pints” before viewing my next feature) but you really have to be a movie buff or historian to appreciate the “subplots” Pirates offered. Maybe they rushed it? I don’t know, but the real question is… “Is it about Quality or Quantity

OFFICIAL PIC: The Joker!!!

Filed under: Movies — UnitDaGamer @ 2:53 pm , Permalink

Here it is bat fans, the first official pic of Heath Ledger as the Joker appearing in next years sequel to Batman Begins entitled : The Dark Knight. My first reaction was “Damn..the scar has got to hurt!!”. Im feeling the realistic direction they’ve went with in this design and it looks like this will be the darkest joker we’ve seen yet. The image above was taken from a viral website warner bros. has put up for Harvey Dent(aka two face). You can peep the site here and watch as the image fades to the joker pic above. I can’t wait for this flick! which will be hittin us in summer ‘08.

Robots in Disguise

Big kids playing with robots, what more could you want. Except some of us who like to ‘itch about all the details about what they didn’t, could, or should do with these past child hood adorations of ours and their conversations into “Follywood” blockbusters brings up too many sensitive issues. Still, thinking back on the kid in me, and what my impressions of an event of this magnitude would have on me can only be summed up in one word - glee. Forget all the dramatic roles, onslaughts of plot twists, love affairs, superheroes crying, cry of “too many villains” [ARE F’ING KIDDING ME, THAT’S HOT], and the silly labeling of Silent Hill as the best adaption of game/anime/cartoon/whatever movie is summed up in one word - limited. The kid in you is disappointed, have a conversation with him or her sometime and bring Zelda’s shield with you cuz you’ll need it. Besides you’re only setting up yourself to hate all other attempts by the same grown-ups who watched the same shows with us when we were younger, to give you some form entertainment - “walking on sunshine moments” set aside at least ^_^. With that, enjoy these shots of that massive 747 movie as my last post for the week.

Won’t have any time to play games this Summer!

Filed under: Movies — DaveDaGamer @ 12:56 am , Permalink

Well whaddaya know? I guess its good we’ll be in a drought, cause I won’t have any time to play any videogames… What will I be doing? I’ll be living at the Movies!!! Every year we say it’s the biggest in movie history as far as, quality Blockbusters. Now we’ve all come to realize based on numbers that $100 million (USD) aint what it used to be. With rising budgets and competition, movies have to hit $200 million (USD) to be considered a success! Not only that, you’ve gotta hit $300 million for even talk of being a blockbuster.

The least we could say is that, this year, i don’t think they’ll be a lot of franchises born (Cept for Transformers maybe) but most are on their second (Hostel), third (Spider-Man, Shrek, Pirates, Ocean 13, Bourne Ultimatum, Rush Hour 3) fourth (Die Hard), and fifth (Harry Potter) installment. Has Hollywood dipped once too many times into the well? Dollar figures say no.

Did you know that the 4 Harry Potter franchises have pulled in close to $4 BILLION DOLLARS World Wide? and that’s from movie stubs alone, not counting DVD sales or anything else.

So here’s the list that will have me glued to my seat and that’s not counting the lil itty ones that will win Oscars. *Also Not counting Spidey which is already at $381 million world wide in 4 days. (Why am I counting worldwide figures? Because those who make the movies do… at least their bank accounts do…)
