NINTENDO SHARES PAVES A PATH TO THE MOON

marios

Well my non investing gamer friends, lets get down to business. Why? Because at the end of the day, those quality level games that you desire and hope that our elder developers, publishers, and game console designers are pushing to us exists for one other motive: profit. Profit that drives more creativity, more games, and more consoles that can run a small country if utilized correctly, and hopefully develop less fluff. Let it be known that Sony is not the only giant to turn a profit and experience growth as Nintendo is proving otherwise. From reports back in early April that Nintendos’ sales forecasts for the DS were met, passed, and left behind in the dust, to more up to date news that they have actually doubled in share owning from last year, is stronger than the jaws of a “Snapjaw”. JP Morgan analyst blame the DS but every other gamer and *cough* wii fanboy would proclaim otherwise. Still its good news to see that the little white box that never could, actually can.

If you were one of the many sega fans from back in the day, then you know about a certian cult classic game called “Nights”. The flying jester will return onto the wii this fall in “Nights: Journey of dreams”. Peep the official press release from sega:

SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON (April 2, 2007) – SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA® Europe Ltd. today announced NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams™, the long awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed NiGHTS franchise that gave gamers the freedom to fly in a world of dreams and imagination. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is being developed for Nintendo’s Wii™ video game console and is scheduled to be released in Fall 2007.

“We plan to deliver a gameplay experience never before seen on the Wii with NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams,” said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. “The game takes full advantage of the unique Wii Remote controller enabling gamers to guide NiGHTS through spectacularly designed dream worlds intertwined with a story about hope and courage.”

As a fantasy jester called NiGHTS, players will fly through Nightopia, a rich and vibrant world where dreams come to life. With the innovative Wii Remote, gamers will experience a heightened sense of gliding, spiraling, and looping through seven mystical dream worlds packed with high-flying adventure. Players must find inventive ways to confront the “Nightmarens” from the neighboring dark world of Nightmare using amazing acrobatic skills, freedom of flight, and other special abilities to protect Nightopia. NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is an adventure filled with courage, hope and inspiration that the whole family will enjoy this holiday season.

It’s nice to see an old property like this make a come back after so many years, especially after the fans have been begging for a sequel for a long ass time! Somebody at sega finally listened. Artist and Wii collide for Canadian contest….

Log this in the books as another reason why America sucks when it comes to cross promotions and tie-ins with game consoles! Currently running in Canada is a contest were the prizes are custom painted Wii consoles from various graff and comic book artist. There are some pretty sick looking paint jobs that are better in my opinion to the standard hardcore pc gammer style paint jobs that are pretty common. Hit up the link for the contest entry and of course, it dosen’t look like the contest is open to non-canadian residents(damn). Some sick joints either way. Check them out!

DJ Mario in the house!!!

Wii Loop Machine Demo

You all have probbly seen the the Wii-mote modified into an DJ instrument from the various DJ’s across the net already. Well adding to the fray is a new mod to the remote were you can now control loop samples all the while adding and effecting pitches and whatnot. The video from “The Amazing Rolo” gives a pretty in depth and easy to follow demonstration on how the controller works in conjunction with your arm and hand movements. I have to admit this mod looks pretty impressive so far from all the ones I peeped already on the web.

Scroll to 4:00 in the video to see him really get down with the Wii-mote!!!

And as a news update, the now famous site DJ WiiJ has been purchased by Nintendo. What started out as one DJ’s mod to the remote and it’s website has now been snapped up by Nintendo themselves. And coming from the owner of DJ WiiJ, he states on his main site that Nintendo is now in the process of making a DJ game, but becuase of the usual NDA, is not allowed to talk further about it, but instead talks about ideas he has had for the mod. Either way, if you thought the Wii was a party system before, imagine busting out the controller and with the wave of your hands, you start drop the ill mix for listener to move too.
