Play Theater: The First 30 Minutes of X-Men Origins: Wolverine

WolverineI’ve been a longtime fan of The X-Men, and pretty much anything that exploits their name, and today’s exploitation is the release of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” both in theaters, and to pretty much every game system imaginable. If you’ve got any questions about this “Wolverine” game just check out the video, and get a look at the first 30 minutes of the game, and you’ll see that someone has finally done Logan some brutal justice. Will There Ever Be Too Many Super Hero Games? Marvel Doesn’t Think So.

I used to be a HUGE fan of all things X-men, and I still am. Even though I no longer collect comics (a choice I’ve regretted since I stopped), I’m always paying attention to the latest scuttlebutt on anything related to Marvel. While there are no Marvel games that stand out to me as must-have material, they’re always good for a rental. I love checking them out and geeking out to both comics and video games at the same time. So, I’m somewhat excited to hear news today that more Marvel games are heading our way.

Gazillion Entertainment and Marvel Entertainment announced a partnership to create several online games based on Marvel franchises. While no new titles have been revealed, Gazillion is already working on their own version of  “Marvel Universe” and “Lego Universe.” This relationship will apparently wont be fading away anytime soon, as Gazillion president and CEO, Robert Hutter states the collaboration between the two companies will last a decade. Wolverine Slices And Dices At New York Comic Con

When DaveDaGamer walked out of secret booth where Activision was demoing a couple of levels of gamelpay from their upcoming game “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” he described it as simply, “The best Marvel game ever.” And, after seeing it for myself, it definitely has more potential than any other movie based game I’ve ever seen. Thanks to the developers at Raven, you finally get to play as Wolverine as the badass that he deserves that he actually is; not toned down for the masses. At last week’s Comic Con Unit got to talk with one of the guys from Raven and get an idea of just what to expect in Wolverine’s latest adventure.

Top 10 Franchises That Deserve A Retro Update

Growing up, a pixel used to be a boy’s best friend. Nowadays, everything all fancy, and “rendered” with anti-aliasing. What’s the fun of that? When we were kids, not having a definitive face on our character meant that it was easier for us to imagine that we were that character with the giant sword and magic spells.

“Mega Man 9″ may not seem like the most innovative game of the year, but, for long-time gamers it is a welcome homecoming for a franchise that has gone astray from its roots. Over the last 30 years of gaming “innovation” has driven many on-going franchises into the ground with constant reworking of beloved classics. Unfortunately, these “updates” don’t always pan out too well, and the only thing that is similar between a new title and an original, are the characters – and sometimes even that’s a stretch.  Sure, “Super Mario 64″ introduced the series to 3D very successfully, but for every success there have been more than a few failures.

Hopefully, “Mega Man 9″ will be such a success that some of gaming’s oldest franchises may stop and take note of their roots, and maybe their next release will be an old-school “update.” Here’s a list of the 10 franchises that could stand for a trip down memory lane – preferably in glorious 8 (or 16) bits. New X-Men Cartoon!

Whoa Baby! I don’t usually get excited about cartoons nowadays, but this new trailer for the X-Men cartoon “Wolverine and the X-Men” looks to be good. It seems as if something has happened to Professor X and the X-men have disbanded (follows up after the movie?). Wolverine takes it upon himself to rally the troops and go search for him. I gotta say I love the style that this iteration is drawn in, and I’m definitely looking forward to the figures. HULK SMASH! Check out the trailer!
