As the trailer above illustates, a few things have changed, but Sam’s back, and better than ever. The game will finally hit store shelves April 13th, and you’ll be able to unravel Tom Clancy’s latest video game and find out just what happened to Sam’s daughter.

R.U.S.E. Multiplayer Preview: Not Your Grandpa’s WWII Game

R.U.S.E.

The Real Time Strategy genre has always been a staple of PC Gaming. French-based developer Eugen and publisher Ubisoft plan on changing that by making their RTS game, “R.U.S.E,” accessible enough for the console market. This doesn’t mean they are “dumbing down” the game by any means, as they also plan on making some rather innovative and risky changes to the traditional RTS format, in hopes to create something new for a future generation of strategy games. Assassin’s Creed: Lineage

I’m going to share with you one of my pet hates, and one which has proliferated quite substantially over the last few years; full CG game trailers, and I’m sure I’m not alone. I’m talking about the tendency of many of today’s game devs to come to events such as E3, bearing little more than proof that their tech department can make a pretty, computer generated wondershow to keep us all slack jawed for three and half minutes; no gameplay footage, perhaps a few scant allusions to plot, essentially an nice looking intro cutscene that will most certainly never be an intro cutscene. Many games to appear at E3 this year already carry this mark of shame, and Assassins Creed 2 is no exception. But now it appears Ubisoft wish to go a step further in their dalience with total f*cking pointlessness, hence Assassin’s Creed: Lineage, a serial of three short films based in the warped Renaissance Italy gameworld, the first of which aired on Youtube last night.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up Review: Turtle Power

TMNT: Smash-Up

No matter how you slice it, “Super Smash Bros. Brawl” is a great game. It may have some problems, particularly in the online area, but at its core, the franchise is one of the most enjoyable fighting games ever created. Since the original was released, back in 1999 on the N64, a surprisingly small number of games have tried to duplicate the frantic fighting formula that worked so well for Nintendo. Enter “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up,” one of the first potentially worthy successor to the “Smash Bros.” crown, but does it have what it takes to really put up a good fight, or does it just end up shellshocked? Academy of Champions Developer Interview: Soccer With Sam Fischer and Altair

Academy of Champions

Gamers who think that “FIFA,” and “Winning Eleven” are a little too complex, now have a much different option when it comes to soccer games, courtesy of Ubisoft. “Academy of Champions” is an arcade style soccer game that sends you to the world’s premiere Soccer school, which is overseen by the greatest footballer ever, Pele. You work your way through the game’s twenty hour story mode, which includes fourteen minigames (some that even use the balance board, so it might be time to dust that thing off), and create a team with players that you recruit. While the gameplay may be a little reminiscent of “Mario Strikers,” the story mode definitely offers a much more lengthy and robust experience. Oh, and you can play as Sam Fisher, Altair, Jade, Rayman and the Rabbids … how freaking cool is that? Check out Unit’s interview, and find out more about what “Academy of Champions” has to offer. Splinter Cell Conviction Interview: Sam’s Back, And He’s Pissed

Spinter Cell Conviction

It’s been three years since Sam Fisher’s last outting, but apperently the phrase “time heals all wounds” doesn’t apply to this special ops agent. In “Spinter Cell Conviction” Sam’s back and he’s out to find the people behind his daughter’s, supposedly accidental death. Just like with every “Spinter Cell” game, Mr. Fisher has some new tricks up his sleeve, but this time around those tricks aren’t going to be new toys. Since he is going out on his own for this mission, he doesn’t have DARPA behind him this time around, but that doesn’t mean that this game is going to be boring. Check out what Unit found out about what to expect from “Splinter Cell Conviction” when he interviewed Ubisoft Montreal’s Lead Game Designer Steven Masters at a recent demo in NYC. Rabbids Go Home Interview With A Look At Customization … In Zee Ouimote

Rabbids Go Home

The Rabbids have kicked Rayman out of the spotlight, and they’re finally getting their own game later this year. In “Rabbids Go Home” you’ll get to play as the pesky, screaming … rabbit… things… as they try to build a mountain of trash to go home, to the Moon. Yes, the story is actually that wacky, but that’s not even the half of it. Ubi’s developement team has always been at the forefront of Wiimote creativity, and that hasn’t changed at all for “Rabbids Go Home”; the game’s customization mode puts you inside the controller with a Rabbids. Yeah, it’s actually as awesome as it sounds.

Check out Unit’s interview with one of the game’s developers to see for a look at just what kind of craziness the Rabbids will be getting into when the game comes out this holiday season. [Continue Reading]

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up Isn’t Fully Out Of Its Shell Yet

TMNT Smash Up

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Smash-Up” is shaping up to be a great game, whether you’re a Turtles fan, or not. We recently had a chance to check out the latest build of the game a few weeks ago in NYC, and the game is going to be a lot of fun. There’s a ton of characters, the gameplay is tight, and you’re going to be able to take your skills online. But that’s just the beginning. Even though the game is only a few weeks out from release, according to the game’s producer, Alex Offermaan, there’s a whole lot more to come that they have yet to release to the public. Check out Unit’s interview with him to get a glimpse at what’s to come from “TMNT: Smash-Up”. [Continue Reading]

Dawn of Discovery Review: A Whole New World

Dawn of Discovery

If you have never heard of “Anno” before, you are probably a North American like yours truly. “Anno” is a series of real-time city and economic building games that was released in Europe, and although “Anno 1404″ (or for us, “Dawn of Discovery”) is the first one to be released in North America, it is actually third in the “Anno” series. Despite it’s experience in Europe, it is still part of a niche genre, and it beckons the questions: Are North Americans willing to embrace this game, and, if they are, is it worth it? Play Theater: Call of Juarez 2 Gets Bound In Blood With 15 Minutes of Footage

Call of JuarezUbisoft is bringing back their western themed FPS franchise “Call of Juarez” with a prequel. “Bound in Blood” fills one of the biggest holes that the FPS genre almost consistently has – the Wild West. There aren’t many historic periods in the United States that are as rich with gun-based action as there was in the mid 1800’s here in the good ole U.S.of A. Shootouts at the OK corral, duels at sunset, quick draws over cheating poker hands… man, if they just had indoor plumbing it would have been an awesome time to live. Fortunately for you, we only have to endure the use of an outhouse in the virtual world of “Call of Juarez.” Check out 15 minutes of what you might be missing if you overlook this prequel like you did its predecessor.
