Are You A Halo Fanboy?

Are you a Halo fanboy? That’s the question Sarcastic Gamer and IGN asks in their funny re-dubbed version of the recent Halo: ODST  live action commercial. What helps drive home the trailer, is how professional sounding the voice over is. It’s funny hearing the truth spoken (imo) about the game and how blind some fanboys can be. Now I know some of you die hard Halo fans can and will get a little riled up…sit down, stay calm and relax. Keep in mind that this is all in good fun. Check out the video after the jump. When And Where Will Bungie Strike Next?

Halo: ReachMaster Chief’s legacy is about to come to an end, or at least his relationship with Bungie is. The fine folks over at Bungie have already publicly acknowledged that next year’s “Halo: Reach” will be their final foray into the Halo universe, and that any game following is not a guaranteed 360 exclusive. So that begs the questions of what Bungie will be up to next and who they will be working for. The answer to those questions may come fairly soon as industry insiders continue to speculate on potential buyers.

Bethesda production director Ashley Cheng believes the outcome is pretty clear. “You can count on one hand the number of publisher’s around who can afford to publish Bungie’s next game: EA (via EA Partners), Activision, Ubisoft, Microsoft, and of course, Bethesda,” Cheng wrote. “I can only imagine how much it will cost to snag their next title.” [Continue Reading]

Xbox Handheld Officially Confirmed?

Shane KimRumors have been running rampant of a Microsoft handheld for years, with nothing ever materializing. Every E3 comes with great speculation on Microsoft’s answer to the DS and PSP, but when the convention doors close, the handheld is nowhere to be seen. Now, Microsoft corporate vice president Shane Kim finally sheds some light on Microsoft’s plans for entering the handheld market, and reaffirms that something is indeed on the way.

“For us, it’s a matter of focusing on ‘when’, because if we chased after a mobile or handheld opportunity, we would not have the resources and ability to do things like… Project Natal,” said Kim, in response to whether he sees room for the Xbox brand in portable gaming in the future. “So we’ve chosen to focus on the living room experience from a hardware standpoint, if you will, but we’re building a service in Live that will… will extend to other platforms. No question about it.” [Continue Reading]

Halo: Reach Possibly Natal Enabled

Halo

“Halo” and Microsoft go hand-in-hand. In fact, some say the Xbox 360 may have never even seen the light of day if it weren’t for the success of the original “Halo: Combat Evolved.” Yet, here we are, years later and millions upon millions of copies of games from the “Halo” universe sold, and the franchise continues to go on strong.

It now appears that the “Halo” franchise might be getting another huge, innovative boost to its universe with Microsoft’s new Natal technology, when “Halo: Reach” sees its release later next year. [Continue Reading]

E3 ‘09: Microsoft Sets the Stage – Project Natal Unveiled

E3 09

Coming into today, many people had guesses on what either Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft had to offer at their individual press conferences, but few could have guessed just how impressive Microsoft’s press conference would actually be (and that’s coming from a huge Sony fan). Microsoft not only introduced the next, exciting wave of traditional software; Modern Warfare 2 footage, a new arcade game from Cliffy B. and company, and Alan Wake, but also revealed new technology in the form of Project Natal – a medium which may change the world of gaming as we know it. Microsoft Betting the Farm on Halo… Again

Microsoft is looking to expand the “Halo” universe, yet again. An online job posting suggests that the company is aiming to create a “Halo” community that not only spans consoles, but possibly reaches out to the web and mobile worlds as well. The listing, which calls for a software development engineer says several interesting things about creating a new “Halo” community. [Continue Reading]

Top 20 Black Characters in Gaming (Numbers 20-11)

With 2009 blazing by we are right in the middle of an important month for Black people, Black History Month. With all the changes that have come, and the many more to go, TrueGameHeadz, in conjunction with our brother blog over at BET, have decided to take a look at the state of the gaming industry, and see how black characters are being represented in games by putting together a list of the Top 20 Black Characters in Gaming.

Not too long ago, we wouldn’t have been able to make it to 20 characters, but I’m happy to say that I’ve actually had to leave some characters off the list. Before we get started, here’s the criteria I used to make this list:

1. You cannot be a representation of a real person, so no Michael Jackson in Moonwalker, or real life athletes like Tiger Woods.
2. The character needs to have a meaningful role in the game, and not just a cameo.
3. I’ve generally left out 2D characters from the 8, 16, 32 and 64-bit generations and focused more on the most recent iterations of games.

That’s it, feel free to debate and argue about who should or shouldn’t be on the as we reveal each of the Top 10 over the course of the next few weeks of February.

Cheapness knows No Bounds for HALO 3 Discs

Other than taking over our lives, several gamers, and owners of the new and improved, graphical OMG greatness that is Halo have been reported to arrive D.O.A. That’s right, I said it and I’ll reprint it if you want. Sad thing is, it shows that Microsoft, its Vendors, and/or Distributors [whomever is to blame, or combination of them all] knows no bound in delivering something that’s not always quite functional. Light of the discs being received scratched have of course gotten much fan mail to MS. People before you jump to conclusions though, it would be nice to investigate further don’t you think? Still a lot of the blame has been pointed at big M$.

Ah well, at least its not as bad as Rotting Blue Ray Discs, a phenomenon that has plagued certain Blue Ray Movies earlier this year. At TrueGameHeadz we point out the follies of everyone so dont’ feel bad M$. What happened to the times when a man could buy something and be assured that it would last him a decade or two? Gone are the days of quality.
