E3 ‘09: Fairytale Fights Interview – Now With More Slicing And Dicing

E3 09
Fairytale FightsDoesn’t everyone love a little blood and gore with their fairytales? Playlogic sure hopes so, because that’s exactly what they are delivering with their upcoming release, “Fairytale Fights.” It’s a whole new take on the stories that we all grew up with as kids, and they are doing a great job of actually keeping the stories closer to their original source material than the watered down, Disney versions that we had in our youth. At this year’s E3, Unit had a chance to talk with the game’s producer, Martin Janse and find out just how much blood is going to be spilled when the game goes over the river, and through the woods to your PS3, Xbox 360 or PC later this year. E3 ‘09: Nyko Peripherals Preview

E3 09
NykoSir-G says it best, “E3 is all about new games, but it’s also about new peripherals,” and Nyko is always at the front of that pack. Check out some of the interesting additions to their lineup that they were showing off at their booth at this year’s E3, including the Pistol Grip and Type Pad Pro for the Wii, the Charge Grip Flex for the PSP, and the Zoom Case for the DSi. Sure, those might not be the best names, but that doesn’t mean the products aren’t pretty interesting. [Continue Reading]

E3 ‘09: League Of Legends: Clash of Fates – Riot Games Founder Inteview

E3 09
League of LegendsEvery now and then you have to go outside of your comfort zone to find something new and awesome, and the best example of that at this year’s E3 was Riot Games’ “League of Legends: Clash of Fates.” It’s a fast paced, intense, real-time strategy game for the PC, that is the next natural step for fans of Defense of the Ancients. While RTS (and PC for that matter) games generally aren’t my cup of tea, the TrueGameHeadz crew and I were able to sit down in front of a computer and pick up the basic mechanics of the game in just minutes. We got our asses kicked, but it was pretty much a whole new experience, and it was a lot of fun. After we got some time in on the game, Sir-G got a chance to talk with Riot Games’ Co-Founder Marc Merrill about what “League of Legends” is going to have to offer, and what is going to differentiate it from the rest of the PC gaming crowd.

E3 ‘09: A Boy and His Blob Preview Interview

E3 09
A Boy and His BlobRemember David Crane’s completely original NES title, “A Boy and His Blob”? It was pretty amazing wasn’t it? Well, someone at Majesco had the amazing idea to bring it back for a new generation of gamers. And then they went one step further, and got the retro-game-loving WayForward (”Shantae,” “Contra 4″) to to make it, and from what we saw at E3, it’s coming along quite well. In fact, it looked to be one of the best looking games at E3 for the Wii, next to Ignition’s “Muramasa.” All in all, games like this are really making me think there are some really interesting third party titles coming for the Wii this year… and that makes me smile. But, I digress, check out Sir-G’s interview with Majesco Entertainment to find out a bit more about this revived classic. [Continue Reading]

E3 ‘09: Batman Arkham Asylum Developer Interview

E3 09
Batman Arkham AsylumFINALLY, Batman’s getting a badass game. “Arkham Asylum” is looking like it is going to be the quintisential Batman game that will set the standard for all other Batman games to come. It’s the first game ever to really blend all of Bruce Wayne’s “gifts – from his detective work to his batarangs it looks like an all encompassing Batman experiance. So, even though the game got delayed a few weeks, you’ll be able to get your hands on it soon enough (I have already spent some time with my hands on it, and you can check out my thoughts on it here), but in the mean time, Unit had a chance to find out a bit more about the game at this year’s E3 courtesy of Rocksteady’s Lead Narrative Designer, Paul Crocker – check out what he learned. [Continue Reading]

E3 09
Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's QuestWarner Bros and Headstrong Games have teamed up to bring gamers their first Lord of the Rings title – “Aragorn’s Quest” for the Wii, PSP, PS2, and DS. At this year’s E3 they were showing off the Wii version of the game, and we had a chance to swing by their booth and check out just what they were working on for the next game to come to Middle-earth… or at least Sam’s version of it. E3 ‘09: WET Developer Interview

E3 09
WETI’m not one to overlook a game starring a lovely lady, and that’s one of the reasons I made it a point to swing by Bethesda’s booth at this year’s E3, and check out “WET.” In the game you play as Ruby, a wetwork specialist, and you have to master her acrobatic moves as you take down tons and tons of enemies – think “Stranglehold,” but with a hot chick … and … ya know … good. Unit had a chance to sit down with “WET”’s creative director and find out a bit more about the game, and the arsenals that Ruby’s going to be packing. [Continue Reading]

E3 ‘09: Spore Hero Developer Interview

E3 09
Spore HeroFrom the mind of Will Wright to your Wii – “Spore Hero” will be hitting Nintendo’s console later this year, and Unit had a chance to talk to one of the game’s developers about what we can expect when the game hits store shelves. Action adventure: Check. Mulitplayer: Check. Online Creature Creations Database: ? One thing’s for sure, if you didn’t pick up the PC version, this will be the best way to create your own creepy crawly “Spore” creature. [Continue Reading]

E3 ‘09: Where The Wild Things Are The Video Game Developer Interview

E3 09
Where The Wild Things Are“Where the Wild Things Are” was one of my biggest surprises at this year’s E3, and not just because it looked amazing – I was shocked it was there. It slipped under my radar, and I wasn’t expecting to see it at Warner Bros. Interactive’s booth situated between “The Watchmen” and “Scooby Doo.” At first glance it may look like just another kid’s movie game, and it could be, if it wasn’t based on “Where the Wild Things Are.” You play a completely new, and original story as Max on the Wild Thing’s island assisting them in finding a new place to live. Check out Unit’s interview to find out a bit more about the game. [Continue Reading]

E3 ‘09: Saw The Video Game Developer Interview

E3 09
Saw: The Video GameThe Saw movies are easily some of the most disturbing pieces of American cinema in the last few years, and they are about to become a video game. “Saw: The Video Game” picks up between the first and second movies, throwing the player in an insane asylum at the mercy of Jigsaw. It will undoubtedly be one of the most psychologically challenging games of the year, and Sir-G got a first look at it at this year’s E3. Check out what he discovered about Jigsaw’s first game.
