Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Review: Too Short, Too Sweet

mw2_7

”Modern Warfare 2″ tries to be the best offering from Infinity Ward (IW), and with having to deliver a sequel to the first “Modern Warfare, it’s hard not to imagine the developers sweating bullets. Yet, gamers are critical, and rightly so when you consider the other “Call of Duty” games by Treyarch, and the fact that this is such an over-saturated genre. You would probably have to blame “World at War” for the lack of a challenge since every gamer I spoke to about “Modern Warfare 2″ said it was too easy … on Veteran. Surprisingly, these days it seems that I’m not the only gamer looking to play my games on their hardest difficulty setting.

Sigh Video games,

“omfg Zangiefs throws are so lame”

“is it time for work already?! I really should leave the orange box alone” [Continue Reading]

E3 ‘09: Modern Warfare 2 Eyes-On Impressions – War Is Beautiful

Modern Warfare 2

In advance of going to this year’s E3, there were only a handful of games at that I was really, really looking forward to seeing, and Activision’s “Modern Warfare 2” was at the very top of that list. The original was one of the best first person shooter games ever released, and the follow up could only get better. As a general rule, I do my best to not have expectations of games before I see them, mostly because I usually get let down, but I slipped on this one, and I had really high hopes for “MW2” … and it lived up to every single one of them. Help Wanted: Treyarch (Activision)

I’m sure you may be familiar with Treyarch. If not, maybe you haven’t played a  little game titled “Call Of Duty: World at War”. If not, do yourself a favor and do so, as it has zombies! And anything with zombies is good in my book. So the fine folks over at Treyarch are looking for a producer. If you happen to have any skills producing, nows the time to give them a call (not literally as no company likes phone calls about jobs). The requirements look a bit heavy, but it’s always worth a shot. Take a look below for the full details. [Continue Reading]

COD: World At War “Nazi Zombie Mode”

That’s right, you read correct. The new Call of Duty is going to have a multiplayer mode that involves evil Nazi zombies. This is going to be a mini-game feature added to all games so you don’t have to worry about and exclusive nonsense. Now you’re probably wondering why zombies in a Call of Duty series? They’re games never had a history for introducing anything supernatural into their titles. Well, I guess it’s included because you’re fighting Nazi’s and, according to sources unknown, Nazi’s used to mess with that demonic stuff back in the day. So, it’s only fitting to say they raised some evil far worse than what they were dishing out, and the results back fired turning them in the flesh eating meat puppets.

I have to admit, although this maybe a little mini-game, it does look good enough to be a game on it’s own (sorry Left4Dead I’ll still hold a special place in my heart for you). Besides I’m down for popping Nazi tops any day!

Could Activision Enter The Console War?

With the console market already a very crowded place with three different consoles serving the needs of three (mostly) different demographics, what would happen if a fourth company released another console? It seems like the answer simply would be that the market isn’t big enough for four consoles and it would be destined to fail. However, what if that company was already one of the biggest companies in gaming, and that already has a firm hold on a sizable percentage of the gaming industry? What if that company was Activision Blizzard?

Around since the late 1970s, and founded by defectors from Atari, Activision currently sits atop the list of third party publishers, and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger everyday. Since the completion of their merger with Vivendi earlier this year, the moniker Activision now adorns multiple franchises at the top of their genres – “Guitar Hero,” “Call of Duty,” “Tony Hawk,” and the biggest of all “World of Warcraft,” just to name a few. Take a look at your game collection, and see how many of your games either have Activision, Blizzard, or Vivendi on them, and then think back to the Atari 2600, and how many quality games over the last 29 years have been released by this one publisher. PS3 Call of Duty 4 Patched – Loud Mouths Silenced!

Thank Gawd for this! Lord there are some ignorant mother )*#$&(#&$ online that need to be muted harder than a hammer to a nail. This is/was a default feature for the online portion of Resistance by the way and I will sing praises till Jesus comes about that.

chatter

Having channel based communications for online-parties should be defunct. True, it isolates you from the other members on your team not in your party, but you were given the option to announce the channel you would use before a match – ie Zulu, Tango, Bravo, etc in that game.

The patch update includes the following -

  1. Optimized servers
  2. New Kill cams (grenades, RPG’s, airstrikes, claymores, and more)
  3. Quick Mute (allows user to mute annoying players by pressing X on their user ID in the lobby)
  4. Addition of “Recently Met Players” for the PlayStation Network
  5. Improvements to the Sniper Rifles and Acog attachments (no more delayed shots)

Doesn’t seem like you can utilize this in-game like Resistance but it’s better than nothing I guess.
