Tekken 6 Viral Video Has Pretty Women Fighting

The second video for Tekken 6’s online viral campaign has just been released. And like the first (which you can see here) they ask…what will you fight for? Now while watching the video I wasn’t necessarily asking my self what would I fight for, it was more of Am I ever gonna see two sweaty women fighting in their underwear in my life time? I guess that’ll never happen, so this video will have to fulfill my fantasies for now. Enjoy the video below! [Continue Reading]

And to celebrate it’s arrival, Namco has released one of possibly several new viral videos to kick off the hype! Madballs In BABO Invasion Review: Keeping Your Balls In Check

Madballs in BABO Invasion

HEY! Madballs. It’s been a long time. How have you been? It’s amazing you haven’t changed a bit since I saw you last. What have you been up to for the last, say, 15 years or so? What? You’ve got a new video game? Nooo…. that doesn’t even make sense. So many questions – the first one being why? That’s crazy. I honestly can’t believe you have your own video game. And, what’s this? It’s actually kind of good. That’s it, my mind is officially blown. I don’t even know how to process this. [Continue Reading]

Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection Review: Still Doing What Nintendon’t

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection

Nostalgia is a funny thing, especially when it comes to video games. Some gamers think that retro games are classics, and should be appreciated as such, and others think that the games of the past should be left in the past. Fortunately for both groups, every now and then a compilation of classic titles is released to remind both groups fondly of the old days. The most recent of these compilations is Sega’s “Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection” which revitalizes such Genesis classics as “Sonic the Hedgehog,” “Golden Axe,” and “Phantasy Star” games in addition to some 40 other games, and it does it with class.

Maybe you can blame it on the fact that I never had a Genesis when I was a kid (it was Nintendo all the way in my house), or the fact that I’m really bitter that my Sega CDX died over the weekend, but I never really thought that Sega’s games were on the same level as their competitors back in the day. There was something about the quality of games that were released for the Genesis that just never appealed to me. Sure, there were classics that I loved to play at my friend’s houses; the “Sonic” games, “X-Men,” and even “Holyfield’s Boxing” but beyond that I didn’t think I was really missing out on much. “Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection” showed me that apparently I was wrong. Even though I still remain a true SNES fan at heart, the “Ulitmate Genesis” collection has finally convinced me that there are some great titles that I’ve missed out on; “Comix Zone,” “Ristar,” and “Streets of Rage” just to name a few, and maybe it’s about time I went back and did some deeper digging into Sega’s back catalog. Top 10 Reasons The Video Game Industry Is In Trouble

Yes I will do it! I’m the bearer of doom and gloom. Someone has to do it. While most publications are rife with BEST this and that about the industry, few are looking at what ails it. I intend to rectify this with my list and hopes for the fixes of my favorite hobby. Without further ado…

10. Sequelitis

Yes, the industry has gotten sick with it. Following Hollywood tit for tat video games, for the most part, have become wholly un-original. Before you come stampeding my way with torches, let me explain. I don’t mean original as in a new genre or way to play a game (ducking Wii-motes). I mean original as in a new IP (Intellectual Property). What happened to getting excited over new characters? All of the gaming icons we know were once new. Instead of creating new characters, we get the same ones for the fifth, sixth, and eleventh installments.  I subscribe to the financial reasoning of betting on a name that people know, but it also smacks in the face of how that character became popular in the first place. No! I don’t want to play as Dante anymore, at least not for a while. I’m tired of hopping around with Mario, can I get a new character? Everyone talks about how this year was so great for gaming, but virtually every game on the Best Sellers list is a sequel – GTAIV, MGS:4, DMC 4, GHWT, Rock Band 2, GOW2, Res: 2, Mario Kart, etc etc  (You know these titles so well I can abbreviate them) How about a year without any sequels and totally new IP? Wouldn’t that be refreshing… [Continue Reading]

Blitz: The League II’s Bone Crushing Preview Video

What a better way to start off the weekend than with some bone crunching brutality courtesy of Midway’s upcoming gridiron bruiser, “Blitz: The League II.” It’s been quite some time since a sports game has been rated M for Mature (if one ever has), and you can see just why “Blitz” deserves the honor. Broken bones, illegal hits, supplements, ya know… all the good stuff. Basically if “Madden” is too “classy” for it, it’s in “Blitz.” Sit back and enjoy a look at arcade style football at its bloodiest.

Capcom vs. Tatsunoko video blowout!

Capcom is back with their latest tag team brawl fest, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. In these latest videos courtesy of Gamemanx from EVO 2008, we see just how the gameplay goes down. And from the looks of it fighting fans are in for a treat! That’s if this game manages to reach U.S. shores. For now peep the insane combos, air juggles and slick gfx’s in the videos below.

*Update: STREET FIGHTER IV COMMERCIAL

UPDATE: the official trailer has been released, check it out below! I can say this game is starting to grow on me, especially with it’s online capabilities. Now, I have to hunt down a arcade stick!

SAN MATEO, CA – May 28, 2008 – Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that the first television commercial for Street Fighter® IV will debut during the CBS EliteXC Saturday Night Fights mixed martial arts (MMA) event. The EliteXC bout takes place on CBS on Saturday, May 31 at 9 PM EST. Immediately following the bout, the Street Fighter IV trailer will debut on the newly redesigned StreetFighter.com, along with the first chance for gamers to pre-order Street Fighter IV for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system exclusively through GamesStop.

Street Fighter 4:new Rufus and El Fuerte pics

Capcom has released some new images of Street Fighter 4, this time spot lighting two of the new characters, big bellied Rufus and lucha libre wrestler El Fuerte. Also, you can see two new stages, a jungle and a 50’s styled diner. In the bellow images, El Fuerte appears to have a move were he pulls out a frying pan? I guess they still have some comedic elements in this version as well. These pics are from the arcade version but I’m sure the ps3, pc, and x360 will be arcade perfect ports, and then some.

WTF?! RYU vs. Gatchaman!

WOW! Someone was feeling a little left out with the fighting game crossovers! Capcom just dropped news about their latest crossover fight fest. Titled Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes, this game will mash capcom’s universe within the universe of one of Japan’s most famous animation studios. Now, if you’re not familiar with Tatsunoko you may be with some of their characters like SpeedRacer, Gatachamn (aka battle of the planets here in the u.s.), Casshern: Robot hunter and one of their most famous animes Neon Genesis Evangelion. If you want to know alittle more about the studio, you can check’em out here. There isn’t too much info known about this game yet but from what you see in the pics, it looks to bring back capcom’s popular tag battle system they used in previous crossover games (marvel vs. capcom, x-men vs. sf, amrvel vs. capcom 2,etc.). Also it seems they’re going with 3d characters and backgrounds on a 2d plane. I don’t think capcom is ready to embrace a full on 3d fighting game yet ala tekken or soul calibur and quite frankly, i have no problem with it… long live 2d!. Anyways this game will be hiting arcades across Japan this year and although only a couple of characters are shown, knowing capcom you can expect a sh*t load of characters from both worlds to select from. We’ll keep you posted on new videos and info once it comes. In the meantime enjoy the pics below.
