DJ Hero Review: This DJ is hard as hell!

What more can I say? (No that Jay-Z track is not in the game… yet) The track list for the first iteration of “DJ Hero” (c’mon you know this is a franchise) is jam packed with 93 mixes of different songs that will definitely get your head bumping. However, of those 93 unique mixes, a few of the tracks have repeat songs heard in other mixes. Tracks such as The Aranbee Pop Orchestra – “Bittersweet Symphony” gets duo love when mixed with 2Pac’s “All Eyez on Me” and LL Cool J’s “Rock The Bells.” Now I’ll leave it up to you to say which one was best, but I’m rolling with DJ Jazzy Jeff’s “Bells”.

Wolfenstein Review: Who Ya Gonna Call?

Wolfenstein

The name “Wolfenstein” stirs up nostalgia in even the most hardened gamer, as well as fear in the hearts of video game Nazis. It was the franchise that brought first person shooters to the masses, and changed the way that many people thought about video games. For many gamers the name still means a lot, and the release of a new game is likely to garner a little extra attention in the crowded games market. But, nostalgia is a tricky thing, and some longtime fans have been previously let down by some of the other prequels and sequels in this franchise. Fortunately, this time around, the title “Wolfenstein” really means something. [Continue Reading]

“Wolfenstein” is one of the most beloved FPS franchises, going back as far as FPS franchises go. Call of Duty Modern Warfare

So, are all you Wii owners out there jealous and sad that you haven’t been able to play “Modern Warfare,” while all of your PS3 and Xbox 360 friends revel in your despair? Do you love Infinity Ward, but can’t stand the Treyarch “Call of Duty” games. Are you counting the days until Activision does the smart thing and announces “Modern Warfare 2″ for Nintendo’s white knight? Well too bad, suckers. This article isn’t for you, because yesterday Activision announced that the original “Modern Warfare,” now two years old, will finally be released on the Wii, but with Treyarch at the helm instead of original developers, Infinity Ward. Tony Hawk Ride Roster Revealed

Tony Hawk Ride

Hola everyone. Did you all have a good weekend? I did, but now it’s Monday, and it also happens to be a slow news day. However, if you spent your weekend tearing up the pavement on your killer deck, this news may be of interest to you.

In the past the Tony Hawk franchise had been heavily criticized for their lack of innovation, releasing carbon copies of the same skating game year after year. But that won’t get good ole’ Tony down, and this year, he’s as determined as ever to silence the critics once and for all with the latest entry into the series, “Tony Hawk: Ride.” While the controller for the game is no secret, its roster of skaters had been kept under wraps… until now. This weekend Activision released the full roster of skaters you’ll be able to use in Hawk’s newest console effort. [Continue Reading]

Prototype Review: Blowing Up The Big Apple

Prototype

Manhattan has always been the center of all forms of disaster in the media. From the Die Hard movies to the web shooting Spider-man comics, this concrete jungle of historic landmarks, such as Time Square, serves as a backdrop for Activision’s latest game “Prototype.” What makes “Prototype”’s disaster scenario stick out from the rest of the flock is its sheer magnitude – you’ll see buildings destroyed and burned, piles of bodies littering the streets, crushed taxi cabs occupying the sidewalks, and the military performing questionable acts to maintain order. While this sounds like a delightful concept for a sandbox action game, is it worth it? [Continue Reading]

Tony Hawk Ride: Check Out the Killer Board, Dude

Tony Hawk Ride

Have you TGH’rs been paying attention to that little convention called E3 that took place rather recently? If not you missed out on a lot of things. Some announcements were huge surprises, while others, like the new Tony Hawk game, were expected. (Check out the video of our own TGH squad checking out the new board here.) For even further understanding of how the board actually works, check out this video by 1up’s Garnett Lee attempting to take to the streets on the new board. [Continue Reading]

E3 ‘09: Tony Hawk Ride Gameplay Footage

Tony Hawk RideIt’s been years in the making, but I think everyone that knows the Tony Hawk franchise shouldn’t have been surprised by the announcement of “Ride.” Aptly named for its inclusion of a skateboard deck that you “ride” as if you were actually hitting the streets on something with wheels. The game looks good, but you have to wonder… isn’t this thing way more dangerous than a Wiimote without a strap? Parents, it looks like it’s time to hide your favorite lamps again. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Trailer Blows More Than Minds

Modern Warfare 2For all of the games that I play, there are only a very few that I truly stay on top of the development for, and at the top of that list is any “Call of Duty” game developed by Infinity Ward. In other words, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about how amazing “Modern Warfare 2” is going to be. [Continue Reading]

Prototype = Badass: New Prototype Story Trailer

Prototype

Hey kids, I finally have a mega badass “Prototype” trailer to show you. The game, which has had a somewhat rocky development cycle, seems to be coming along nicely, but details on its story have been fairly mum… until now. The trailer, which shows protagonist Alex Mercer tearing up the streets of New York, offers a lot of good details on what to expect from the games story. While the main premise is a tad cliche – Alex wakes up and has no idea who he is or why he has powers – the supporting characters seem rather interesting, and it looks like there will be a lot for gamers to figure out once the game hit stores shelves in June.

Executive producer, Tim Bennison, explains what exactly were looking at in the trailer. All of Alex’s powers look pretty chaotic – in a good way. Bennison refers to wanting the player to feel like the “ultimate badass.” If the game manages to impress me as much as its trailers have, then the crew at Radical Games looks well on their way to achieving that goal. Keep it tuned to TGH for more news on “Prototype.” The game is set to release on the first of June, so hopefully we won’t see any more delays. Latas, all. [Continue Reading]
