Mafia II Trailer Puts You In The Shoes Of A Wise Guy

2K has a pretty solid release schedule for this year, and one of the highlights is definitely “Mafia II”. Other games have tried to put you in the roll of a gangster climbing up the ranks of organized crime, but “Mafia II” is looking to do it bigger and better than anything that’s come before it. Just check out the trailer above to see what you can expect when the game comes out later this year.

BioShock 2 Review: I Want To Be Under The Sea

BioShock 2

2007 was a big year for video games; that’s an undeniable fact. So many great games came out that year that it’s hard to nail down one in particular as the best game of that year. However, there’s one game almost always comes out near the top of the heap; “BioShock.” Ken Levine and 2K Boston’s underwater masterpiece is something that gamers will always look back on as a true classic. “BioShock” was both a critical and commercial success, so a sequel was inevitable. However, “BioShock 2″ wasn’t handled by the same development team, with 2K Boston passing off the reins to 2K Marin, and it didn’t even feature the same characters. However, “BioShock 2″ somehow managed to be one of the most enjoyable and compelling games to come along in a while. [Continue Reading]

The Misadventures of PB Winterbottom Looks Delicious

Later this week one of the most interesting looking titles to hit XBLA will be released. “The Misadventures of PB Winterbottom” follows around the titular character in his never-ending quest for pie. That’s right… pie! Everyone loves pie! Seriously, how can you go wrong with a game about pie! Supposedly there’s also some mystery and puzzles mixed in, but for me, it’s really all about the pie! Also, I’m a sucker for black and white games, and if someone’s got the balls to release one, I’ll give it a try. Also, I love pie!

What Happens At The End Of BioShock 2?

BioShock 2

There’s hope yet for “BioShock 2.” It’s not like there was ever really any question about how good the follow up to one of 2007’s best games would be, but, there was one fatal flaw with the original – the last boss encounter.

After hours upon hours of both challenging and rewarding gameplay throughout the sunken city of Rapture, Jack Ryan works his way up to (spoiler alert) fighting Frank Fontaine in, what should have been, ultimate fight to end the game. However, for all the greatness that went into the rest of the game, the final fight was a bit of a letdown, feeling flat, and fairly easy compared to some of the other inhabitants of Rapture that Jack had to battle.

At a recent demo I asked “BioShock 2”’s Creative Director, Jordan Thomas, about whether or not whatever the end of his game holds a similar encounter, and, while there was very little he would actually confirm, here’s what he had to say: [Continue Reading]

A Pineapple Under the Sea: Revisiting BioShock

Revisiting BioShock

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or perhaps, at the bottom of the ocean) for the past five years, you’ve likely heard of an underwater, dystopian adventure by the name of “BioShock.” The 2K Games epic in which you traverse an abandoned, decayed metropolis at the bottom of the ocean has won numerous Game of the Year awards and has been the central topic when speaking on the matter of injecting fresh, original ideas into a FPS-market plagued with been-there-done-that gameplay and sequelitis. Recently, my roommate picked up “BioShock” for the PS3, and even though I finished the game on the 360 (again, with my roommate purchasing that copy… sorry 2K) I couldn’t wait to take the plunge all over again. Now, I’ve finished the game twice, on two different systems, and it remains one of the freshest, most satisfying gaming experiences I’ve had in the last decade. So, with the recent announcement of a February 9th release date for “BioShock 2,” I’ve decided to revisit what made the original so special, and provide things I look forward to in the sequel. Borderlands Preview: Exploring Pandora In A Warehouse In Brooklyn

Borderlands

There is something to be said about pulling inspiration from three of the biggest games of the last few years… but what about creating their love child? From the very second gamers get their hands on Gearbox’s upcoming opus, “Borderlands,” they’re going to draw some pretty close comparisons to fellow 2K Games franchise “Bioshock,” Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic “Fallout 3,” and Valve’s zombie massacre “Left 4 Dead,” but it won’t take long for it to become apparent that “Borderlands” is its own, truly unique experience. Big Mama’s House 3 to Take Place in Bioshock’s Rapture?

Quite the title, huh gamers? Let me explain. “Bioshock 2″ recently posted its own viral site (check it out here), and, from the looks of it, Big Daddies may be a thing of the past. Everything on the site is pointing to the next iterations of the underwater juggernauts containing two X chromosomes. So, are female Big Daddies going to be called Big Mama’s? I hope not.

None the less, Something In The Sea is pretty interesting. There seems to be “something” going around to boat houses and houses along the shores of the Atlantic coast, stealing little girls from their homes while they slumber. The site showcases newspapers articles on police reports stating that witnesses seeing a tall, thin figure, with a glowing red light on its head. One eyewitness account also states that the figure had “amazing speed” even while carrying a kidnapped child on its shoulder.

Many questions still remain. Does it take place in Rapture? Are Big Daddies, indeed, a thing of the past? Is it a prequel or sequel? Only time will tell. However, if you’re itching for all things “Bioshock,” check out the site above. The teaser trailer may also be seen here.

And, as always, if you think you have the whole plot figured out already, please share with us, below. Lata TGH’ers. Till next time.
