SSF IV Box Art & Capcom Release Dates

releaseDate

Capcom just sent us an updated Press Release statement detailing the official release date on Super Street Fighter IV, as well as other games expected from them this year. Expect to see Super Street Fighter IV on store shelves April 30th 2010.  Did I miss something, or wasn’t this game supposed to come out earlier than that?  They were also kind enough to send us a high-definition image of the North American box art, so click more to check it out.

The statement reads as follows -

Super Street Fighter® IV will be coming to the Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system from Microsoft® and PS3 system on April 27, 2010 in North America and April 30, 2010 in Europe. The follow-up to the critically acclaimed Street Fighter IV will further redefine the 2-D fighting genre with a host of new features including new characters, new ultra combos, new online modes, the return of the famed bonus stages and retuned online and offline gameplay. Super Street Fighter IV’s new characters include Street Fighter’s first Tae Kwon Do-styled fighter – the deadly female fighter Juri – classic Street Fighters such as Cody, Guy, T. Hawk, Dee Jay, Adon and more to complement the full roster of returning fighters from Street Fighter IV. Featuring all new user-selectable Ultra Combos and advancements to the online gameplay and matchmaking, Super Street Fighter IV is the ultimate vision of Street Fighter.”

Lost Planet 2 was also mentioned in the mix.  Lost Planet 2 was one of my favorite games at E3 2009 and perhaps I feel that way because it fills the gaping hole that Capcom left in my side when they axed all plans to bring Monster Hunter to Ps3.  Lost Planet 2 will hit streets on May 18th, 2010 in the US and Europe on both XBox360 and PS3.  No word on Monster Hunter Tri  or  Final Fight: Double Impact.  In the mean time, check out the box art for Super Street Fighter IV below -

I’m not sure I like this one but it is nice to see them use the original artist from Super Street Fighter II again.  It really makes me think back to how I got obsessed with the series back in the day.  At the same time, couldn’t they have done something with a little more impact?  Regardless of your cover tastes though, everyone agrees that this version of the game hitting streets later this year was the version that should have come out before.  Capcom did promise those who purchased the first Street Fighter IV title that they would receive a bonus in the form of an easter egg in the new game.  Let’s see if they can keep that promise.  In addition, the entire roster for the game is not yet complete, as fans are still clamouring for their personal favorites over at Capcom Unity.  Others have already speculated that Dudley and Ibuki from Street Fighter III will return to take in two of the three remaining slots in the line-up.
