Dead Rising 2 – Officially Alive

It turns out that this was quite the eventful weekend for zombies in the gaming universe. Perhaps some of you had the chance to check out the trailer that leaked over the weekend for what was thought to be “Dead Rising 2″ ( if you missed it, you can check it out here). The trailer showed, what appeared to be, a town resembling Las Vegas being overtaken by the living dead. Various news clips of the chaos surrounding the town echoed in the background, and the trailer even showed players finishing off the undead inside a Zorb-like contraption.

Capcom did not wait long for rumors to fester however, as they officially announced “Dead Rising 2″ for multiple platforms earlier today. Canadian developer Blue Castle Games will be undertaking the project with help from various members who worked on the original. Keiji Inafune will act as the game’s producer.

“Dead Rising 2,” which will be set years after the first, will, according to Capcom, allow players to experience a “new level of zombie-killing fun with tens of thousands of zombies.” So, there you go everybody, I’m rather excited for this one, as the first “Dead Rising” kept me entertained for quite some time. It certainly isn’t my favorite zombie franchise from Capcom, but I’ll be playing that one soon enough.

“Dead Rising 2″ will be available for PC, PS3, and X360. No release date has been set, but as always, keep it tuned to TGH for all the latest on “Dead Rising 2″.
