Resident Evil Creator Intends on Bringing First 3-D Horror Game!

The next “Next-Gen” revolution is shaping up to be directly opposite what this current gen has become. When the original XBOX and PS2 did so well, companies braced for the current console gen of XBOX360 and PS3 by gobbling up small dev houses and created huge studios. Citing that the move to HD would require great resources and creative talent to create games. As project costs continue to rise, we’ve seen a large number of fairly successful developers close their doors or be shut down by the parent company in order to drive “revenue” for the under achievers in the umbrella.

PlayStation Move Genius or Lame Copycat? What Will Nintendo Do?

Sony finally pulled the curtain away from their “motion control” solution yesterday and got the gaming public buzzing. Shouts of “Thief!, Copycat!, and Un-Original!” can be heard far and wide. While PlayStation fans tout the features that make their solution ‘better’ than the Nintendo Wii’s. So who is right and who is wrong?

I think it’s a bit more complicated than that. To borrow a line from the recent movie Brooklyn’s Finest, I think it’s a case of “Who’s righter or who’s wronger?” I made a statement to my fellow TrueGameHeadz, “I see why Nintendo is putting out another Mario Galaxy” and it immediately started a passionate discussion about Nintendo being an innovator and trumpeted for their achievements.

Heavy Rain Review: The Hunt Is On

Lo and behold 2010 is starting with a bang for gamers. Each year we often consider being the best in gaming, but 2010 is looking to raise the bar even further. We’ve just finished up month two (already) and we’ve already gotten at least three titles that would be worthy for game of the year. I’m talking about you; “Mass Effect 2,” “Bioshock 2″ and now “Heavy Rain.”

Quantic Dream is a development house looking to build on its interactive formula developed with last gen’s “Indigo Prophecy” and brings us the well-hyped “Heavy Rain” exclusive to the PS3. Games are growing up kids. This isn’t your regular video game affair. [Continue Reading]

Proof! Se7en can be an Interactive Movie like Heavy Rain

Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain isn’t even a month old and it’s inspiring loads of chatter from the internet. Usually with chatter comes creativity. This youtube contributor (LBQ2TS) is taking Machinima to the next level. Going back to David Fincher’s brilliant Se7en (1995) staring Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Spacey and seeing how it would play out with Heavy Rain like controls. Does this open the door to bringing back full fledged interactive movies a la Sega CD’s “Night Trap”? But now that we have stronger systems, they can be more sophisticated like Heavy Rain. Watch this and see if it doesn’t start the mind spinning.

Darksiders Review: It’s The End Of The World

Darksiders

“A War Dem Want, A War Dem A Go Get” – Bounty Killer.

When it comes to THQ’s “Darksiders,” more fitting words have never been spoken. When I first heard about this game that would bring about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, I couldn’t help but jump with joy that video games had finally begun to really embrace the biblical themes of heaven and hell. Ever since the beginning of video games there was always a “good guy, bad guy” dynamic but never really touching on “mature” themes like gasp… H –E- double hockey sticks and the Apocalypse.

The story starts off with you in control of a hulking beast of a being walking down what looks like a ravaged Times Square. All types of things are blowing up around you and you are marching forward following a truly impressive golem thingy. Before long you are attacked by flying “angels” that you proceed to rip apart with wanton aggression. Soon you find out that you are War, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, meant to ride out and ensure that what was once living was no longer living.

Now that’s my kind of game. [Continue Reading]

DJ Hero Review: This DJ is hard as hell!

What more can I say? (No that Jay-Z track is not in the game… yet) The track list for the first iteration of “DJ Hero” (c’mon you know this is a franchise) is jam packed with 93 mixes of different songs that will definitely get your head bumping. However, of those 93 unique mixes, a few of the tracks have repeat songs heard in other mixes. Tracks such as The Aranbee Pop Orchestra – “Bittersweet Symphony” gets duo love when mixed with 2Pac’s “All Eyez on Me” and LL Cool J’s “Rock The Bells.” Now I’ll leave it up to you to say which one was best, but I’m rolling with DJ Jazzy Jeff’s “Bells”.

Video Game Art From Across The Ocean: A Conversation With deviantART’s Orioto

If you guys didn’t know, TrueGameHeadz not only care about video games, we also care about art, and the creators of these games (that we like to tear apart) as well.

Browsing deviantART, one of the hotbeds for hot artists worldwide, we came across this artist who touched our hearts with the Wacom. He doesn’t design for major games yet, but he can capture what’s true about some old school titles that make us all stop and stare. Without further ado let me introduce you to Mikael Aguirre aka Orioto. I’m sure you’ll find inspiration in his work.

XBOX 360 Games on Demand Sorta…

Ok so MS has finally revealed the launch line-up of games and what they are going to cost which you can get below.

But it wouldn’t be a DaveDaGamer article if I didn’t express my beef.

First of all the line-up. While it’s almost a given that a download service would try to make money off a back catalog of games first (long tail economics for ya), but please explain to me, why these long released title are coming at a price of $19.99 – $29.99? Isn’t that the same price that we can find these games at in retail stores?

Please tell me where the “cost” savings of not having to produce packaging, printing, pressing, advertising, shelf space are going? Definitely not to the consumers who are paying exactly the same thing. [Continue Reading]
